PAULDING - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Running Bear Resort >> What a storm!! 13 inches of snow overnight and still snowing! Some of you know this but for those of you that don't, I am a weather Observer for National Weather Service of Marquette MI . I have been doing this since 2013. So every day I make the trip down to my weather station and give them the readings for precipitation and temp. In the winter it's pretty exciting. At the end of the fence in the picture is where I walk down to my weather station and you can see how high the snow is on the fence, well around the corner the snow was even deeper, over my waist! It's a wake up for sure! The things I do 🙂 #westernup #snowphotosWhat a storm!! 13 inches of snow overnight and still snowing! Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins >> Ontonagon / Porcupine Mountains Snowmobile Trail Report
The predicted snowstorm did not disappoint! Higher elevations away from Lake Superior received over a foot of fresh snow, while the lakeshore areas picked up 4–6 inches of wet, heavy, packable snow.
With snowfall totals like this, it will take a couple of days for groomers to fully flatten and set up the trails. Strong winds—gusting up to 60 mph—have created deep drifts in spots, especially in open areas.
If you’re planning to ride in the next day or two, please use caution. Groomers will be doing their best to get on top of everything, but with this much snow and wind, it will take a little time to dial the trails in.
That said, the New Year is kicking off with a great start for snowmobiling in the Ontonagon and Porcupine Mountains area.
Happy trails and ride safe! 🛷❄️ #ontonagon #westernup #snowphotosOntonagon / Porcupine Mountains Snowmobile Trail Report

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> Well Ma Nature tried to make up for the damage she did last week with a good dumping of snow on our system.
It's 17° and still snowing lightly in beautiful downtown White Pine. As soon as we clean up enough to get out of our homes we will head out to repair and groom.
The plan is for Steve to leave out of Hamilton's North Coast Adventures and Tractor Mac will head out from White Pine. We will update all when we see what we see.
Be safe out there!

WATERSMEET - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club >> Updated 12/29/2025. The big storm has hit and still hitting. We will be getting groomers out as soon as they can get dug out of their own homes and power gets restored. With all the snow and extreme high winds we had there may be trees down so if you are out watch out for trees down and any other possible hidden hazards. If you come across trees down please try to move them completely off the trail for us and the safety of all riders. Thanks for all your support and ride right. #westernup ... See MoreSee Less

Sledheads of Frederic – 02/03

It’s a real winter wonderland out there this morning. We have had about 5 great thick real snow overnight and I wish the heck I was out riding in it. Hardly any sleds around. Went up to Gaylord this morning and hit all 3 places up there, Mega, Extreme and the Sled Shed looking around and had to get a few odds and ends. Snow even looked better up that way. Just had 3 guys in here that were based out of Howell and their pic is below. They rode from Lewiston to Gaylord and down to here and taking the trump trail #47 to Lovells. Its been a long time since I could say this but you couldn’t ask for better conditions. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A major winter storm will continue to impact northern Michigan, bringing dangerous travel conditions to much of the area. Heavy snow and strong winds gusting to 45-55+ mph are expected to create localized blizzard conditions across open areas at times from mid-morning into early afternoon. Drifting snow may make travel especially difficult on secondary roadways. Power outages will also be possible, especially across areas that experienced icing on Sunday.
