Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 02/25

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Krupps Resort – Good evening Kruppers!
Well another weekend is in the books and it was awesome!
The off trail is about as good as it gets right now!
We picked up over a foot of new snow and the conditions are primo!
Rode trail 13 for quite a while and has some bumps but I could ride one handed and 3……. well good early in the day and then the bumps in the afternoons!
It’s the weekend and traffic is heavy so you can guess it whoops up!
Tomorrow through Thursday is the best of coarse!
A lot of traffic up here but good snows down through Wi and Mn should lighten the traffic up here for sure!
It looked to be about a foot from here all the way to Minneapolis and sleds were everywhere today on my travels!
I would have to say it has been a long time since I rode such good off trail conditions up here in Kruppys backyard!
Me and Kruppy have BIG smiles right now!
Have a great night and get out and ride!
It’s awesome!
Now I’m going to go take some ibuprofen from the weekend riding!

Warm during the day and cold at night though trails still fair to good shape. Groomers going out late night early morning if cold enough. Got about 2 inches of snow Saturday night followed by some rain and temps around 30. Supposed to have a couple days this week above 40 so we will see how trails hold up.

We have a new plowed parking area at the beginning of trail #8 under the International Bridge, which now has an all season porta John.

If you are staying in the Sault please look at our list of supporters on our web page and give them your business. Please do that in all towns you visit. The grooming entities are all made up of volunteers who want you to support those who support us!!!!!!

Remember trail base is the amount of snow between your track and the ground below not the amount of fluff piled up in the woods. 10 inches of snow compresses to less then a inch on the trail.

Brimley to Raco, Trail #8 –

City curfew is from 1 am – 6 am. Remember most City streets are open to traffic 20 mph, stop at all intersections, and ride on the right hand side of street not on side walks. Watch for closed streets that are posted, mainly around the hospital, university, and state trunk lines.
