Traverse City Trail Report – Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals – 01/04

January 4

A true Blue Sky day! The trails have taken a little beating as we haven’t gotten much snow since the storm on New Years. We are going to shut down rentals for the weekend as temps are predicted to be 40 and sunny.. There is potential for a storm on Monday and we are not sure if it will bring snow, rain or a mix. I will update the report Monday night on the conditions. As for now I would rate them fair to good but they will only deteriorate with traffic and temps this weekend. Wish I had better news. This has been a strange start to winter.

What happens when you rent from Blue Sky! You love it and come back with all of your friends! Welcome back to this group of 16 going out to enjoy Northern Michigan’s Woods! Trails have been panned and the groomers say they are not to bad right now. We are looking at mild weekend temps so hopefully the weatherman is wrong and we can get into the weekend with the base we have. I would rate the trails good for the most part and fair in spots.

Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 01/04

1-4-19, Gogebic Area Grooming’s groomers are still out on all trails. Our trails North of Lake Gogebic are in good to fair shape yet. Snow is getting thin towards the south end of Lake Gogebic, with rocks and stumps still sticking up.

Use caution on trail 13 South to trail 100, there was some logging done earlier this winter. Trail 100 does have a wet spot, please use caution! You have to ride East Shore Rd near Stage Coach Rd until you get near Hwy M-64. Please stay on the side of the road (with the flow of traffic) and go slow!

Trail 13 North still has rocky spots yet, and the corridors are seeing a lot of traffic. Which is making the snow thin.

Trail 8 West towards Wakefield is still a treat for us. We are Grooming it, except between the county line. The Groomer has to go around the swamp due to braking through the ice. We pick up the trail past Jack Spur Road to our turn around. DO NOT go off the trail into the ditch as you will get stuck!

Here are a few pictures of our trail 8 east towards ewen this morning!
