Mother Nature just won’t make the switch over to spring! We received almost another foot of fresh snow over the last two days!

We officially broke the 300 inches mark for the season total! How much more do you think we will receive?!
Thanks for the video Copper World!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The Lakeshack >> 03/31

Today would be a great last day on the trails to cap off a great sled season

A sledder could have a great day riding from Mass City and north
The Portage lift bridge is already closed to cross on sleds so you would have to trailer over that to ride the Keweenaw trails but I’m sure there are some lucky snow lovers riding today

Check out the Shackiecam 24/7 right here looking out over Lake Roland in Twin Lakes
Have a great day

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Krupps Resort >> 03/30

3/30/25 ❄️ KSC was out grooming yesterday, from Toivola to Copper Harbor. Trails are still holding up pretty good. Granted some spots thin/bare with this new snow over night helped for sure. Trail 3 is the ONLY trail you can ride a sled on from April 1st on, the others close down. The water is open and the bridge is closed so you have to trailer across the Houghton Lift Bridge. Have fun everyone, if you can get one more ride in – go for it! 🇺🇸⛄️❄️ www.kruppsresortmi.com

What a way to wind down a great 2024/25 season and there is actually more snow in the forecast!
It’s awesome to see so many riders out enjoying these awesome conditions. Last nights snowfall really freshened things up!

Groomers have also been out again!

Got a dusting of snow over night here in Twin Lakes – everything is covered in ice. They are out taking care of the roads the best they can, use caution please. A lot of ppl are also without power. Thank you to those out there working to keep the roads cleared and getting power back on. They are calling me for a heavy snowfall starting tonight now. Stay safe everyone! 🇺🇸⛄️❄️ www.kruppsresortmi.com

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> 03/28

Snowing good in the Keweenaw and the trailers are rolling in! AmericInn Calumet is a great choice for lodging, located right on trail 17! — some areas got very little rain some got more. Lake Linden appeared to get a decent amount of rain prior to changing to snow. Copper Harbor a light mist. Conditions before rain/sleet/snow today were very good north of Calumet and pretty much perfect north of Phoenix with the exception of up Brockway Mountain. If the forecast hold and continues to snow like it is currently it should be much better even in most places..

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western UP Trail Reports >> 03/28

Friday March 28th
We’ve got 3 days left in the season and I’m pretty sure the groomers are done for the year. Today started with a light mist around 10am and turned into a pretty solid rain all afternoon. Now at 7pm it’s a frozen sleet coming down. They are calling for about an inch of snow/sleet over night tonight. Not much tomorrow during the day but then tomorrow night we might see 2″-4″.

If you’re up for one last ride remember the Portage bridge is closed and ride with caution.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> 03/28

What a great spring riding day it was yesterday! Trails from Hancock north to about Mohawk are true late season riding – bare spots, wet areas, exposed rocks etc….Mohawk to about Phoenix definitely not perfect but still great spring riding. Trail up Brockway totally “doable” if you want to head up for views but definitely exposed areas pavement, rocks etc.

Trail 122 and 133 sadly, not recommemd by our experience and other riders due brush (133) and low snow (122) Getting in and out of Gay on Wednesday was good but deteriorated quickly after. (Trail 124 from Phoenix to Gay is closed!

Trail 134 and 135 are like superhighways and literally best riding all season.

Who knows what this forecast is actually going to do as far as additional snowfall, but if you are looking for one last ride possibly on Monday, it could be awesome!

We saw probably 50 other riders and not one was regretting their decision to make this last trip! All seemed to be seasoned spring riders, which does make a difference.

Highly recommend staging from the The Drift Inn or even a location further north if you are planning one last ride! (Be sure to stop in today for their awesome Taco Pizza)

Trails running on private land close after the 31st. Trails on state land do not close – example – trail 3 running south out of Houghton! Plenty more across the UP! Know before you go!

The Portage Lake Lift Bridge is closed to snowmobile crossing.

We were out last night to pack down the wet heavy snow that our area received on Trails 17 and 3. We will pack down some of our other trails today and tonight as conductions allow. The Portage Lake Lift Bridge crossing remains closed, please plan accordingly if you’re planning a ride. “Early Season” conditions are present across the system, a lot of areas do have water opened up. Please ride with caution!

Long hours were put in yesterday – thank you to all Groomers that went out to make the trails smooth! Reminder trails before hand were hard on top/thin/bare in some areas. The bridge is NOT open to ride across from Houghton to Hancock and the canal isn’t safe to ride across. You will have to trailer across the Portage Lift Bridge – spring riding it will be worth it! We rode yesterday and it was fun! Before all the grooming! With the snow we got it covered the trails great and they groomed our smooth! Stay Right, Stay on Trail, Stay Safe & Have fun! 🇺🇸⛄️❄️

Monday March 24th – Only 7 days left
WATCH TILL THE END
It was an honor to meet Officer Kurtti today and be able to chat for a while. What an awesome job to ride the trails all year to serve and protect.
According to Officer Kurtti, the trails are in pretty good shape except for the reroute, and the wet spot outside Twin Lakes is frozen over. He also ran down 109 a little and said it was in good shape considering.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect totals through Friday afternoon, December 19th, 2025 have been updated slightly to account for latest shifts in atmospheric conditions.
Discussion
As temperatures fall early Friday, moisture pools back in, mixed with colder air over the warmer lakes, turning on the lake effect machine for both of the Great Lakes that influence our normal lake effect zones. A respectable 1-3" to 2-5" is possible in the fairly typical areas shown on the map. The narrow lane of higher elevation across the Keweenaw Peninsula and Porcupine Mountains are most-likely to experience totals exceeding 6". You may have noticed our one main change was the expansion of T-1" over to the east side of the state just as a general precaution to any snow squalls that make it across the state. Not everyone will get a rogue snow squall, but it is in the odds for nearly everyone. A snow squall is a thin, but intense band of quick snow that can produce at least half an inch of snow in minutes time, while knocking visibility down from 10 miles, to a quarter mile in moments time. Additionally, a quick coating of snow may hide any ice that was able to form from the freeze later tonight. Lake effect snow and snow squalls are poised to start later this evening around 8 pm EST (earlier for the western UP), and run primarily through 1 pm EST Friday. A couple lake effect bands may last through 6 pm across northern Michigan near Gaylord, and the central UP near Munising.
Each area is never guaranteed the totals shown on the screen. This is why we call it a prediction. The totals that are shown however do have the greatest odds of occurring. Yes, we are still trying to find that crystal ball, but no luck to this point. Follow us here at Michigan Storm Chasers for forecast updates, and a little humor on the side, throughout the next few days, and as always, 365 days a year! #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyLake effect totals through Friday afternoon, December 19th, 2025 have been updated slightly to account for latest shifts in atmospheric conditions.

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 03/26

3/26/25
30 degrees this morning under a bright blue sky. We did not get all the snow the weather guessers were calling for the last couple days. “They” were saying up to a foot….we got about an inch….LOL. The forecast looks like temps in the mid 30`s and a rain/snow mix for the next few days too. I`ve been gettin a lot of questions about the conditions and if we plan on gettin the groomers out. The trails are still decent and there is still a lot of snow in the woods so there is riding to be had. We do not have any plans on gettin the groomers out tho. With the temps and soft conditions predicted we will do more damage than good.

Here`s a final rundown on the trail conditions for this season….it officially ends this Monday……

Trail #8 south is still ridable but I`m sure water is starting to creep up, I haven`t heard any reports lately tho. The swamp south of town is closed of course and the ride from the river mouth to town is really rough.

I`ve had reports that the Falls trail #45 opened up. We will close the gates on that today.

Trails #452 and #453 are still decent and plenty ridable but are gettin just a touch choppy.

Trail #8 to Pine Stump is the same.

We`ve had a great season this year, just get out and enjoy the last weekend and take it easy and you`ll have a blast!!!!

Also, I`ve had reports on people trying to get out to their property in the woods by vehicle and gettin buried. Don`t try it yet folks, there`s still WAY too much snow in da woods!!! Its gonna be at least a couple weeks (maybe more) before you can make it by truck. Its a very expensive towing bill if you try it!!!!!
OK, we had a great season. God Bless and see ya`ll next December.

Peace out…….Groomer Chris
