Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/20

Boy how things can change in an instant. From Fantastic to not so fantastic, we were hit with 47 degrees and lots of rain and wind yesterday which turned our perfect trails to mush and puddles.

It’s now Noon fifteen on Saturday in Frederic and there have been a few sleds thru and there is one trailer in my back parking lot but there is lots of ice a big puddle lakes.

It’s about 40 out right now. It must have blown hard last night as my big 4 x 8 sign I have down near the gas station blew off and away from the trees. I walked down there to fix that and I would just sink into the knee deep snow in the alley. So now the wait is on to see if it gets cold and hardens back up and then we get some new snow on top of that….. – http://frederic-mi.com/from-fantastic-to-not-so-fantastic/

Newberry Trail Report – Halfway Lake Resort – 02/20

Stay Tuned..
Yesterday riders reported morning riding to be great, especially in the morning/early afternoon. The afternoon warmed up to the mid 30’s for a bit with some light misting. We barely noticed the mist while the kids were riding the Kitty Cat around the driveway. It snowed for a bit last night, but things are warm again today.

We measured 23-25" for the NWS reading this morning. We measured 26" yesterday. There has been more snow north of here. The base on the trails has been hard and thick. Although things are warm today we won’t miraculously lose all of our snow overnight. The driveway is still covered with snow and this has obviously been plowed all season. Things will freeze tonight and there will still be snow on the trails. Hopefully the groomers will be able to work with the snow they have. Corners may be snirty and/or icy and swampy areas that have been problematic will likely continue to be a problem (mostly trails south of here). We won’t know what Sunday will be like until after Sunday is over.
