Gaylord Area Trail Report – 12/04

Snow, baby, snow! We’re having an epic start to snowmobile season and the Gaylord area currently has over 40 inches, with more in the forecast!
The groomers have been running since trails opened on December 1st. All trails are open and in good shape. Please remember that even with the fresh snow we received, we are still building up our base. Groomers will keep running as we receive more snow.
A few things to remember about groomers:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are coming and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night.
– Have fun and stay safe!

Its been calm and quiet this morning in Frederic, no new snow to speak of overnight but I have seen both the Gaylord and Grayling Groomers this morning. There is supposed to be a clipper tongith which might give us some nice thick snow.. That makes me think I may have to be closed tommorow so I can get a ride in. I am ready for a good ride after only getting in 200 miles last year.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> After a few light snow showers pass across eastern upper overnight, weather turns pretty mild and quiet this Monday. GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> A little down state riding in Gaylord, Fredrick and Wolverine. Snow started Saturday around 2. We have at least 6-8”. Trails are decent. A little rougher from the melt but more the enough snow to cool a 2” Assault! #gaylord #snowphotos
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Snow will diminish this morning, ending by early afternoon. Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Gusts to around 30 mph will be common. That will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow today, especially in places that are more open and exposed. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeySnow will diminish this morning, ending by early afternoon. Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Accumulations remain consistent to this mornings forecast with 3-6” for most of the area and localized 7”+ possible where heaviest snow falls this evening and tonight. No new snow and its icy and mostly dry but my lake is emerging in the back parking lot. My nieghbors were just here and they are going to try to ride to the bridge. I told them to send me a picture, we will see how that works out. There is a prediction of 1 to 4 inches for today but I do not think that will help much. I have a piece of property that I keep plowed out and that was all down to dirt this morning. The wait is on again... #gaylord

No big changes for the UP, although a bit more snow is now forecast for the Keweenaw and central UP.
