LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 12/06
Your Friday December 6th evening update from the Bergland area.. We had a machine go up 102 this morning to reset and fill waterholes. It’s not perfect but getting better and we’re pretty confident we can start pulling a drag up that trail. Trail 8e to Ewen had it’s first groom of the season and turned out really nice but thin. 13n to Rockland had it’s first groom tonight but we haven’t heard any report on conditions yet.
Heard chatter on the radio saying it also turned out good.
Tomorrow we are planning a crew of people giving 13s on the East side of lake Gogebic some much needed attention. Use caution if riding 13s, we will be there in 2 different groups with Bully’s, sleds and people during daylight hours. Most likely we will stay off the trails Sunday with this brief warmup forecast to protect what we’ve already established. Good evening everyone, busy day tomorrow.❄️❄️❄️

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Widespread snow will begin to spread west to east this morning while a heavier snowband looks to set up in the central UP this afternoon. Uncertainty still remains where this snowband will park, however, heavy snowfall rates will likely create difficult travel along US-41 from Delta to Marquette/Alger counties. Tonight, widespread snow transitions to lake effect snow for the north wind snowbelts.

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Hamilton's North Coast Adventures >> Trails remain EPIC! INCREDIBLE snow pack and great sled clubs continue to make trails beyond amazing! We spent 7 hours this morning out doing the lord's work cutting them bumps down from Ontonagon to Rockland to White Pine. Come ride!! Temps are perfect for winter adventures! ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> TRAIL REPORT: We groomed Trails 137, 101 and 13, Trail 12 from Potato Farm Rd to White Pine, and Trail 1 from Trail 12 to Lake of the Clouds. All trails are in surprisingly good condition except Trail 1 along Lake Superior which has a thin, snurty ice base.
Big shout out to our VP Ricky and Mike from Superior Outdoor Maintenance & Services LLC for getting us out of a little jam this morning. #ontonagon #westernupTRAIL REPORT: We groomed Trails 137, 101 and 13, Trail 12 from Potato Farm Rd to White Pine, and Trail 1 from Trail 12 to Lake of the Clouds. WATERSMEET - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club >> UPDATED 1/9/26- We seem to have weathered the slight warm up and trails seemed to have held up snow wise. Trails are a little choppy but our groomers are out so hopefully they will be back in good shape by tonight. We had to switch groomers going west so groomer tracker is not showing but will get that back up and running soon. A lot of trees came down again with the last little storm so please watch out for trees and remember Ride Right and Ride Safe. Watch out for groomers also. #watersmeet #westernup

The good and the bad.
First we'll start with the good. Everything in our system will be groomed tonight before you all wake up.
The Trail's were in very bad shape. Heavy traffic, and warm Temp's, we kinda expected as much.
We had one machine leave early (4pm). Snow was rolling through the drag and blade but everything started freezing in tight quickly and traffic over a fresh groomed trail we started getting sugar snow. (Which doesn't pack well). There's plenty of snow out there but we need some new to help improve what we're working with. They are calling for a couple inches tomorrow which will help bring the moisture back.
