12/6 update!
Good evening! We are making more progress! Today, Lane and Dennis took the loooong way from the Soo to Kinross by way of trail 8, to 480, to 472. This is because the city trails and trail 49 to Kinross are a wet mess still.
Groomer Jay and I will be doing a small stretch of the city tomorrow just to check it out.

Here’s Lane’s report from what I know was a very long day for these guys!
“Dennis and I made the trip to Kinross today. From the Soo to Raco, trail 8 is great. Trail 480 to the Spile Dam area turned out pretty good. There are a couple deep water holes but there is plenty of room to get around them, but use caution. We saw at least 12 sleds riding this trail while we were grooming. We went up to maple farms and then 472 to Kinross. Trails are good except the hazards of the water holes on 480. We removed a lot of trees and brush on the way.”

Another 8” of snow possible through tomorrow. Just need more cold and more time for the rest of our trails. ❄️❄️❄️

WEATHER UPDATE via Pictured Rocks Marine Weather Conditions >> OK, here's the latest! Shown below is the expected 24-hour snowfall accumulation from 7pm today through 7pm Friday, along with the 24-hour snowfall from 7am Saturday through 7am Sunday. The 12-hour "gap" in between those two periods is the lull between the two waves of snow, when not much is expected to happen. And the snowmelt from the warm spell today should largely have ceased by then. More snow is also expected after 7am on Sunday and even into Monday, but it's a bit too early to call the snow amounts for that time period. Good morning everyone!
Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails last night, ahead of the little warm up we’re having through Friday.
As all operators have been saying, the snow is still very soft, which does make moguls appear faster. Things smoothed out really nicely, and this thaw/refreeze cycle will really help lock in the trails now.
The tunnel under I75 was gathering more snow than we’d like as we have to be mindful of the Tucker clearance, so he worked on pushing some of that out of there.

This was likely the last grooming run until Friday as we get through the next few days of warmer temps. Everywhere is as flat as we can get it until Friday.
Today marks 1 month until the greatest race on ice, the International 500 Snowmobile Race!
We’ll be in the brand new vendor pavilion, where Sugar Island Chris and crew will be serving up the worlds best hot cocoa, and answering your questions about our club and the trails that we maintain.
I plan to head up to the track often and I’ll update how the ice is looking over the next month.

Lane ran 472 west to Tilson Rd and made a huge improvement in this trail.
In a couple of weeks, we’ll finally be able to groom from there through 480 in the Spile Dam.
