Gaylord received an abundance of snow last week and over the weekend! Trails are currently rated in good condition, however, grooming has been halted due to the warmer temperatures. Be sure to watch for ice in some areas. Be safe out there and have fun!
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in several locations. Near the intersection of trail 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake is the newest operation. Logging is also taking place on trail #4 along the powerline that crosses Evergreen Drive and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing their best to smooth the trails out in these areas.
If this winter is anything like last year, it’s going to be another epic one! Want to be ready? Get a free trail map delivered right to your mailbox and plan your adventure!

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert. – Always ride on the right side of the trail. – Ride safe and ride sober.

Meltdown is not what we want to see. Weather thru next tuesday is pretty much in upper 30s, things are icy and melting. It never fails that we have great snow and then in a few days it starts to leave us. Riding on sunday and monday was some of the best snow we have had in years. Lets see what things look like after a few days of this. Its wednesday morning about 10:30 in the morning and 35 degrees. All we can do is wait but here are some pics from riding sunday and monday. 2 pics are around my building and parking lot. Looking a little slick. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via Pictured Rocks Marine Weather Conditions >> OK, here's the latest! Shown below is the expected 24-hour snowfall accumulation from 7pm today through 7pm Friday, along with the 24-hour snowfall from 7am Saturday through 7am Sunday. The 12-hour "gap" in between those two periods is the lull between the two waves of snow, when not much is expected to happen. And the snowmelt from the warm spell today should largely have ceased by then. More snow is also expected after 7am on Sunday and even into Monday, but it's a bit too early to call the snow amounts for that time period. Winter will not succumb to our brief warm spell! #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey ... Monday was epic for us. Rode from Indian River to Cheboygan, east for lunch at the Bluffs, on to millersburg, then back. Not a mogul the whole trip and only met one sled before lunch.

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Not liking the weather forcast for the rest of the week and coming weekend. Ended up closed again yesterday as there was another blessing of 6 inches of snow and we took off on another great ride of untouched snow, leaving Frederic and up towards mount Frederic and lakes of the north to starvation lake and back to Frederic. Lunch at the hide away and back to Frederic. About 150 miles of prime riding between sunday and monday. Sundays ride took us to lovells for a great pizza. Now time to get to real work today. Pics below are of the Jordan Valley groomers with a giant project on the trail. The guys were there to get the track back on the groomer. It actually came off a few days ago but they had to gather up equipment to put it back together. Wow what a huge project. A big thank you to all those volunteer guys. Thanks for checking in.
