Sidnaw / Bruce Crossing Trail Report – Sno Valley Riders Snowmobile Club – 12/28

Groomer Report;

All of our trails were groomed last night/this morning.
We are calling the riding conditions Fair to Good for now. Still early season conditions in some areas.

The wet spots and muddy holes between Bruce Crossing and Rockland on trail #3 are all frozen now but there isn’t enough snow to fill everything in yet so you may find some holes here and there.

Please DO NOT climb the “Military Hill” from the highway, US 45, to the fence, we have ongoing erosion issues there and the hill climbers are adding to the problem. YOU COULD CAUSE THIS MAJOR TRAIL TO BE CLOSED IF YOU CONTINUE!

Please ride on your own side of the trail and STOP at the stop signs!

Trail #3 North to Rockland is FAIR, better as you go north.
Trail #8 from Ewen to trail #3 North is FAIR.
Trail #3/8 East from Bruce Crossing to the trail #3 South intersection is FAIR.
Trail #3/8 West from Bruce Crossing to the trail #3 North intersection is FAIR.
Trail #3 South from the railroad grade to the CC road is FAIR to GOOD.
Trail #8 from the trail #3 South intersection to Trout Creek is FAIR.
Trail #8 from Trout Creek to Kenton is FAIR.
Trail #8 from Kenton to Sidnaw is FAIR.
Trail #8/15 from Sidnaw to the trail #109 intersection is GOOD.

Watch for the groomers, they take up most of the trail and have the right of way!
Please pull over and DIM your lights for them, they have a long night out there.
Remember, you can get off the trail, the groomer can not.

When I report “base” that is the depth of the un-groomed snow on my yard South of Sidnaw. There is no possible way to accurately report what the depth is under your snowmobile on the groomed trail, it varies widely.

Have a fun and safe trip, thank you for riding our trails and visiting our local businesses!

Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/28

December 28, 2017

5 degrees BELOW ZERO this morning. No new snow yesterday or last night but no worries, we have a solid 2 foot on the ground and the weather guessers are calling for a bunch more and staying cold for the next 7 days or so. Here`s what went on yesterday…..

The "crew" we ended up with was just me, groomer Mike and groomer Dave M. We busted through trail #45 to the Falls with 2 machines and no drags. It wasn`t quite as bad as I expected as far as water holes but there was a couple of good ones. We got them broke open and filled with snow. With these temps so cold the trail should set up pretty quick. We are thinking letting it set for today and tonight and try to run it with a drag tomorrow. Now, pay attention to this next sentence, I`ll even capitalize it for you. THE GATES ON THIS TRAIL ARE STILL CLOSED, DO NOT GO AROUND THE CLOSED GATES, IT IS NOT SAFE YET!!!!! The reason I gotta stress this is on the way back from the Falls we ran across quite a few sledders who went around the CLOSED GATES and were covered with mud. We even had one guy who was buried in the mud and we had to go get him with a groomer. Keep in mind, this was after we spent 8 hrs. on the trail. He`s lucky one guy ( groomer Mike ) volunteered to chase after him. I didn`t hear, but I hope this guy took care of Mike. Another thing that went on was groomer Jack ran the loop trails (#8 and #45) from town to the barn and then hit the town trail. He didn`t take a drag which kinda confused me but he was out there. Now on too whats gonna happen today……

Groomer Don is gonna run the Point trails, #452 and #453, for the first time. Not sure if he`s taking a drag, there are some pretty good water holes on the far north side of this trail also. Groomer Dave M. said he`ll run the loop trails from town to barn and the town trail with a drag….if he gets a chance today. Remember he spent all day with us yesterday and he`s got some catching up to do around home. This Friday we are trying to round up a crew to head south thru the swamp. We need a full crew for this……so any volunteers?? We are also trying to find someone to run trail #8 to Pine Stump….the no help thing AGAIN!!!!!!!

So……thats whats going on for now. Stay tuned for more.

Groomer Chris
