Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/29

December 29, 2017

14 degrees this morning and windy right outa the east. The wind chill is reading minus 6.

I hate being the bearer of bad news but this is all I got today. So, here we go…….

Groomer Don got about an hour and a half into his run on the Point trails and the main hydrostat drive line blew…..dead machine. Groomer Mike went out to get him and tow him back. In the mean time we discovered a second machine has a hydrostat leak that we have to track down before we can run that. So…..that leaves us with just one machine runnin AGAIN. We just can`t send out a guy without a back-up just in case something happens to the only running machine….know what I mean? So….this means we didn`t get the Point trails run yesterday, the town trail and the loop trails didn`t get it cause we didn`t have a machine available, the one runnin turned into a tow vehicle. We were gonna hit the Pine Stump trail today but can`t do that cause we have no back-up…..can`t get into the swamp south of town cause that takes two machines. What do we do???? We`re screwed. You understand? The reason I mention this is I see on our FB page a couple guys are bashing us about the rough trails. We know they are rough but we can`t do anything about it….these blankity blank machines keep breaking!!!!! Let me also mention one other thing. It is not a maintenance issue. We go through these machines all the time. Can you tell when you`re car is ready to blow a belt or tranny line or anything like that??? We go through these machines more than you look under you`re hood!! Black cloud…..black cloud…..darn I`m getting tired already and its only December!!!

Sooo…..anyways…..some of the boys tore into the blown line last night and got it apart and Don is gonna run to Newberry this morning to see if we can get a new line made. Some of us others will be out at the barn this morning and try to track down the drive line leak in the other groomer.

To the guys bashing us and our trails. I wish you would stop. It doesn`t help our morale. We really take pride in our trails. We can`t do anything about break downs and water holes. We are trying our hardest but just can`t seem to clear this darn black cloud over our heads!!!!! All fer now. Groomer Chris

Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 12/29

IRONWOOD AREA / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – Well, this is a forecast we can get behind! Our trails are in fair condition. Much traffic on them yesterday has churned the base up leaving trails a bit discolored. Trail 160 has a large water hole, be sure to find the bypass trail. Trail 11S is thin in places. We need more snow and we sure hope we get the high end amounts!….
