TRAIL REPORT March 4, 2022

Great Trails with Help Again!

Thanks to help from (3) of our neighboring Clubs Trails in an overall very good condition with our Bully being down again. (Trenary Northern Trails, Schoolcraft County Motorized Trails Association and Big Bay De Noc Snowmobile Club). We will continue to do what we can with the Programs Spare Bully, our club owned John Deere 7130 and help from our neighbors. Hopefully parts arrive for the Bully today and we get a surprise delivery of the Big Deere, still awaiting a return delivery date. Lets hope this weekends warm weather forecast switches to snow instead of heavy rain. Temperatures may affect groom-ability so we will be watching closely to determine a hold or not. Ride to the Right and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/4

With our trails holding up in great shape and Alger SORVA having more issues with their Bully, Steve made a run with our groomer to help our neighbors with a double loop run around 417, 418, 7, and 8 on their west end. Trail set up hard with decent snow and came out relatively flat with a little work. We are glad we could help out as much as we could this year as machine downs have been an issue not only with Alger SORVA, but with multiple clubs across the UP. Clubs have stepped up to help other clubs and it makes all the difference. Ride right and ride safe!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Getting prepped for the weekend! Grooming, maintenance, and training are on the schedule. Snow is grooming out well, but temps are not letting it hold up. Colder temps this weekend will help, but warmer temps next week will make it challenging to keep the trail smooth late into the day. Roadside banks are getting tall which makes the trail narrow when paralleling the road. Keep that in mind when meeting the groomer in tight areas. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos ... MUNISING AREA UPDATE VIA TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Our newest operator is catching on quick! Reinforcements from Pennsylvania have arrived also! We are hitting it hard for this weekend with a short preventative maintenance window planned for the machine on Saturday. Temps are warming up during the day, making the trail soft and letting moguls form, but temps will drop again for the weekend! That means better trails for Saturday. Looks warm for the start of next week with temps near 30 by Tuesday. Get out and ride while the riding is good! Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/03

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 3/3

Good Morning from Lake Margrethe, its about 11 degrees out this morning. Here we are 3 days into March in whats left of the most dismal sled season in the 25 plus years that Sledheads of Frederic has been open. The U.P. was certainly the place to be riding this season and I believe it still is. The snow conditions around Frederic havent changed much since this past weekend. Still nice and white out there but icy underneath. The forcast for the next few days isnt anything that sounds positive either. There have been a few sleds out and about this week including the group of 4 guys that stopped in yesterday and they were going to try to ride up to the bridge. I told them to let me know if they made it. I do think it was possible thing to do yesterday. Barring a giant storm which of course is possible that there wont be much more riding around here this season. Pic below is the four guys before heading to the bridge and they had rode from 4 mile road to Frederic. On tuesday I saw the Roscommon Groomer making snow dust and grooming on the trail along I 75 from the Ramada to 4 mile road so that was a good site. Also one thing I found interesting on my trip to NYC a couple weeks ago is that most of the food delivery guys in NYC that deliver on their bicycles have gauntlets on their bikes. Look at the pic below. Thats all I have today, you know the same old Blah, Blah, Blah….Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Feb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions. Colder Saturday, with a few flurries around again, and then, you guessed it, more snow chances going into early next week…though signals point toward a warming trend during this period as well. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyFeb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions.
