Last night trout lake received 8 inches and Moran received 3-4. Our southern loops still do not have enough snow to groom. Going north on the tracks it is in pour condition until you get 6 miles north of Moran.
Getting in and out of Moran is very thin at best. Anywhere near trout lake is in good condition with the new snow. Brevort and cut river are passable but thin and expect some mixed sand and snow areas. As always we will update when these conditions change.

W🤩W! Another great report coming in today! Love hearing comments like “Trails were flat and smooth. Snow conditions were perfect”
Eric Spillman & Mark Foster started day 2 of their trip out today by heading south after riding up to Copper Harbor yesterday.
Eric shared these photos and said, “Started just north of Calumet..Lunch at Boondock Inn U.P. North Resort. Trails 3 & 13 were perfect. 4-8″ of new snow and temps in mid 20’s made the trails the kind of day you hope for. Made it to Lake of the Clouds. We returned back to Calumet for dinner at Michigan House Cafe & Red Jacket Brewing Company. 245 miles today. Trails were flat and smooth. Snow conditions were perfect.”
Thank you for sharing Eric! Beautiful photos!

We need cold and snow!
Hard to believe that the week before Christmas a blizzard dumped 49 inches of snow across the Keweenaw in areas…. and then a warm up really messed it up!
For those messaging asking about off trail conditions…..
Sean Diederich decided to play around a bit before the rest of his group arrives and said that it wasn’t “bad” in the woods. Sean shared these photos and said, “Played in the woods a little bit today waiting on my sister Lexi and her boyfriend to arrive. Trail riding the rest of the weekend. Gonna run down to Rousseau Bar when they show up. Not bad in the woods, but not the greatest either.”
Thanks for sharing Sean!

Here’s the good, the bad and the ugly, see below for a detailed report. We haven’t received the snow other areas have reported.
We groomed Trail 3 / Trail 17 Tovoila to Copper Harbor, Trail 134, Trail 135 and Trail 124 ( partial groom, too many water spots close to Gay) last night.
We cannot safely groom Trail 130 (exposed rocks and water spots), Trail 133 (need snow, colder temps) and Trail 134 to High Rock (need snow and colder temps).
Trail 132 will be groomed tonight.
Trails are holding up ok, but we need snow. Water holes are still around and appearing so ride with caution.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 01/05
We have had questions from riders regarding coming to the Keweenaw to ride this weekend….. YES trails are open and reports from other riders have been very positive this week from riding the KSC trail system for the most part. However, we need cold and snow! It appears the recent snowfall has skipped us. We have not received the fresh snow that other areas have unfortunately. It is currently snowing now though!
Please download the Groomer Tracker app and subscribe to the KSC trail system or any other club’s where you ride. This is one of your best tools to use when planning a ride. For a $10 fee you have up to the moment trail grooming status. The club receives $5 of the $10 fee to put towards grooming trails! This is a win/win situation for the club and rider.
The GT app can be very helpful, especially at a time like this when all trails aren’t able to be groomed nightly due to wet areas, low snow etc. Last night trail 3 from Toivola to Copper Harbor, trail 17 from Hancock to Calumet, trail 124 and trail 134 were groomed. Trail 133 and trail 130 were not able to be groomed.
🚫Trail 122 is temporarily closed for logging and until a reroute can be opened.
🚫Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden and Trail 120/121 -the Freda Loop are closed due to the Father’s Day Flood of 2018
⚠Please continue to ride with extreme caution due to the wet areas that are opening up on trails.
The water hole on the high rock trail spur has opened up quite a bit more than the last photo we shared. Unfortunately until we receive more snow and cold temps the groomer operators will not be able to try to fill in this spot.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Krupps Resort >> Please when behind a groomer wait for them to flash lights for you to pass, this is for everyone’s safety. When approaching a groomer try to pull off to the side as far as you or ride as far off to the side as safe as you can. Please stay on your side of the trail, even more so try not to cross over onto freshly groomed trails. The longer it sets the better riding it is for you & others. Ride Right. Ride Safely.
