Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> 1/26/26 - The song remains the same this week, as winter will leave us this pattern to lead us into more snow, thanks to the clipper parade. A few inches of snow or so are possible with each round, starting with a burst of snow tonight that will transition to NW to WNW flow lake effect. Highs in the teens will carry on, with cold signals holding on into early February. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey1/26/26 - The song remains the same this week, as winter will leave us this pattern to lead us into more snow, thanks to the clipper parade. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Jan 25 2026...Most areas stay quiet across the Northwoods for the first couple days of the week, with the exception of the shorelines, which have a better shot at seeing some lake effect snow showers at times. The next best chance of snow comes later Monday into Monday night with the next clipper system swinging in. Light northerly winds today become light and variable tonight…then west to southwest and increasing a bit for Monday and Monday night with that clipper. Temperatures will start to warm a smidgen…highs look to reach into the teens above zero. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyJan 25 2026...Most areas stay quiet across the Northwoods for the first couple days of the week, with the exception of the shorelines, which have a better shot at seeing some lake effect snow showers at times. CADILLAC AREA UPDATE via Cadillac Winter Promotions >> We have decided to halt grooming operations until Sunday due to these cold temps. Our operators safety is #1. A lot of our trails have no cell service and if a tractor goes down it would be bad for our volunteers. The trails are in very good shape right now still. See you out there Sunday. #cadillac ... Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Dangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. Wind chills in the 20s below zero; some areas could feel as cold as -30F. This will be dangerous, as frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers. Keep a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded.
Gusty northwest winds plus continued powdery lake effect snow will lead to significant reductions in visibility with whiteouts at times through this afternoon, especially in open areas where snow can easily blow around. Dangerous travel conditions are expected, and wind chills well below zero will be even more problematic if you end up stranded on the road. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyDangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning.
