Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 04/03 – UPDATED

Rode today from Toivola south and the trails are still in Good shape. Gets a little thin through Twin Lakes but not bad. Then smooth sailing south of there.

So I come to you with ears pinned back and my tail between my legs.

But upon further review… We have been told that riding in the Keweenaw will only be allowed on trails that use state land. That would be trail 3 from Toivola to Houghton and then trails 3 and 17 from Hancock to Calumet and back.

My sincerest apologies for causing such a ruckus and confusion, it was the LAST thing I wanted to do. A communications issue between the DNR and myself and I will certainly take credit for my responsibility in the mix up. Also, trail 3 from Toivola to Mass City is on state owned land, so it is fine to ride as well.

Sorry!

Munising Area Trail Report – 03/30

TRAIL REPORT: 3/30/2018, Friday, 10:30 am
Looking at a nice close to the grooming season with fresh snow on the way. We groomed what wet snow we could last night in preparation. The base is real hard. Grooming did cut out the minimal bumps in the trail. There is a 3 to 4 inch of nice broke up snow on the surface. (Trail 419 out of Wetmore, Trail 8 East to Shingleton and West to the 8/7 intersection by Christmas. Also Trail 7 down to Buckhorn.) Over all the trails are flat. Recommend the use of ice scratchers. See web page for details:http://www.algersorva.com/snowmobile-trail-report/
(photos: Both machines hitting the trails and pulling in what in-used snow we could with the wings for a good close to the season)
