Munising Area Trail Report – 02/07

TRAIL REPORT February 7, 2022

DOING OUR BEST TO KEEP IT TOGETHER!

About four to five inches of new snowfall with the trail system dropping to an overall fair to good condition now. We are continuing the down equipment struggle with help from neighboring clubs. With only one machine running the core of our trail system it has been very hard to keep up. We are doing our best but the smaller, lighter equipment is making it very difficult.

Thank our neighboring clubs for helping us keep your trails rideable. Get out and ride safe, stay right and enjoy the great riding conditions! Keep doing the Cold Weather Snow Dancing and Stay Tuned for updates!

GWINN AREA UPDATE via Forsyth Snowmobile and ATV Club >> Trail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Our town is in need of snow, took a ride East over towards Alger County and they definitely have more snow over that way. Buckhorn area was smooth all the way down south and across over to Big Springs area. Big Springs area north had some small rocks on the trail and once we got by the Jack Pine Trails were good again. Came through shingleton and quite the snow storm at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the snow didn't come to our town. Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Here is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.
Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. Not too impactful of a system in terms of Michigander standards, but do take it slow if you encounter any snow squalls and/or visibly slick roads. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyHere is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.

Munising Area Trail Report – 02/06

TRAILS GOOD BUT A GROOMING CHALLENGE!

About an two to three inches of new snowfall with the trail system in overall good condition now. Trails are slowly making a good recovery as we continue the down equipment struggle with help from neighboring clubs. One trouble spot that will be hopefully repaired today is the Wetmore Spur along M-28 from Wetmore East to Trail 422. Large moguls have been developing so ride with caution in that area. Trenary Northern Trails will continue helping on the west end and Schoolcraft Motorized Trail Association will be helping with Trail 8 North of Shingleton. Bay De Noc Snowmobile Club has also started helping with Trail 7 from the south up to the Buckhorn. With this help from our neighbors our full trail system is getting groomed, just not as frequent so trails may get choppy between runs. Trail Programs Spare Bully went down for a few hours yesterday but back up and running after stealing parts from our down Bully. Thanks to Quest and Anthony for helping out Operator Chris and to the Sheriff and C.O. who stopped and directed traffic during the repair. Be sure to Thank our neighboring clubs for helping us keep your trails rideable. Get out and ride safe, stay right and enjoy the great riding conditions! Keep doing the Cold Weather Snow Dancing and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails –

Great results from last night groom. Steve sent these amazing pictures in this morning after getting back from a full groom with a little fresh snow to mix in. Whoever gets the first tracks in the morning is going to have a great ride! We still need more snow, but we are making the best with what we have! Please patronize the businesses on the trails you ride. Without them, you wouldn’t have food, gas, or souvenirs from your trip. They are appreciative of your business! Ride right and ride safe!
