Munising Area Trail Report – 12/15

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA –> TRAIL REPORT Tuesday, 12/15/2020
Finally enough snow to start talking about. We received 6 to 8 inches of snow across our area last night, just enough to get started packing in the wet areas. Lets hope the snowfall continues so the riding season can get started. Stay tuned as grooming operations begin.

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> I'm going up north to the U.P of Michigan on Friday to chase a potentially significant lake effect snow event from late Saturday night through Tuesday. Snowfall accumulations could be 1-2', if not higher, as high-res model guidance comes in when we get closer.
Another lake-effect snow event is increasingly likely behind an arctic front next Wednesday night through Friday, which we will need to keep an eye on. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyI'm going up north to the U.P of Michigan on Friday to chase a potentially significant lake effect snow event from late Saturday night through Tuesday. A picture is worth a thousand words. Videos even more so.
We have talked to many snowmobilers who have been happy with the early season riding given the minimal snow we have on the ground after that last meltdown.
We have a great staff of groomer operators and several new ones this year.
People are stepping up and getting involved. We appreciate everyone support. #munising #snowphotosTrail Report Posted

GWINN AREA UPDATE via Forsyth Snowmobile and ATV Club >> Trail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Our town is in need of snow, took a ride East over towards Alger County and they definitely have more snow over that way. Buckhorn area was smooth all the way down south and across over to Big Springs area. Big Springs area north had some small rocks on the trail and once we got by the Jack Pine Trails were good again. Came through shingleton and quite the snow storm at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the snow didn't come to our town. Ride safe, ride right #qwinn #marquette #munisingTrail update for Gwinn area, Central Upper Peninsula. Munising Area Trail Report – 03/24

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 3/23

TRAIL REPORT – Monday, 03/23/2020
GREAT TRAILS BUT SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED!

UPDATE: We received official notice from the DNR that Grooming Operations are shut down. Trails are open for public use but grooming stops.
Overall trail conditions are good to very good. All of the Main Trails have been groomed and are holding a near perfect condition. Trail 8 North of Shingleton has grooming be finished up tonight with operations then on hold. Grooming Operations will resume when weather permits. We still have a very good base overall with great late season riding conditions. Near the towns we have thin snow on trails running along the roadways. Check Fuel and Food stops if heading out. There are questions coming in with Executive Order 2020-21 and snowmobiling, per the MI DNR website all Trails remain Open following Section 7.Exceptions/a./1. of the order. (copied in the detailed report) Be Safe!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/23

We regret to inform everyone that between the announcement by our governor today and a week of warm weather coming up that we are ending our grooming operations for this season. That does not mean the trail is closed. It is still open until 4/1. It just means you will not see our die hard operators out on the trail until next season. Our gas stations will still be open. Our restaurants have been ceasing operations. Call ahead or check their Facebook pages to find out if they are open. We will start prepping for summer maintenance and getting ready for next season! We do have one HUGE favor to ask of all of you. When things return to normal, PLEASE visit our sponsoring businesses and thank them by buying their products, food, and gas and help get them back on their feet again so they will be there for you next season! Any little bit helps! Stay safe and thank you for the great season!
