Newberry Trail Report – 01/05

The trails have groomed out nice since the busy weekend. The cold and little bit of snow we received the other day has help tremendously. There is more snow on the way tonight and throughout tomorrow and then off and on for the remainder of the week. A friendly reminder that ATV’s/ORV’s are NOT permitted on the groomed snowmobile trails. The observation of the trail conditions are based on the amount of snow and traffic. 85% or better of the trail system is good. There are good spots and bad spots, however the majority of the bad is just the large amount of traffic. The wet spots are freezing. Temperatures will remain cold this week which will continue to help freeze it in. As always we want to encourage safe and responsible riding!! Please ride with caution.

Ride Right and Be Safe!!

Trail 9: Groomed last night. Newberry to the Wolf Inn is Fair. The Wolf Inn North is Fair to Good.

Trail 45: Trail was groomed last night. Beyond the 500 across the swamp is not frozen enough to open the gate.

CAUTION AREA!!!! There is logging off of Trail 45 before Camp Snort.

Trial 9/2 South: Groomed last night to Trout Lake. There is a water spot along the tracks between H-40 and Trout Lake Use CAUTION! Freezing back in but still use caution!

Your grooming team from the TASA Barn!!

Curfew in the Village of Newberry is 11:00pm to 7:00am.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Final Update For Ice Accretion:
A dangerous ice storm will begin tonight for portions of northern lower Michigan. The heaviest ice accretion takes aim in a localized area from Traverse City to Gaylord to Atlanta with over 0.50" of ice expected. Around this area, a zone of significant icing between 0.25' to 0.50" is expected - which is still enough to take down tree limbs and create power outages. The worst of the icing will be tonight into Monday morning, and then we deal with high winds moving in Monday morning as well which will only exaggerate the effects of this event.
Plan for multi day outages, near impossible travel, and scattered tree damage, some significant. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey #soo #newberryFinal Update For Ice Accretion:

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> One of the most absurd snow forecasts we’ve ever made here at MSC, we’ve had to add an impromptu orange color for higher totals.
Key Notes:
•Snow begins to work into Michigan late tonight, but becomes more widespread during the early morning hours of Sunday. This snow continues through Tuesday morning for the UP, and becomes a snow/freezing rain/sleet mix for northern lower Michigan beginning Sunday afternoon/evening.
•Winds will gust between 40-60mph statewide both on Sunday and Monday.
•This will be a full on blizzard for much of the Upper Peninsula
•Expect scattered power outages across the state
•Travel will be near impossible for the UP and northern lower
Snow totals will be between one and four FEET when all is said and done on Tuesday in the UP. Further south, a mix is expected which will keep accumulations lower, and also will provide a sharp cutoff of accumulations. The difference between a foot of snow and 2” may be the width of one county.
Further south, this system will end as snow for lower Michigan on Monday & Tuesday, which is why we have a wide area within a trace to an inch, and western lower in a 1-3” zone with wording of higher totals possible. We may need to adjust totals here as new data comes clearer for Tuesday.
Stay tuned for the icing portion of this forecast. Northern lower Michigan will see significant icing which is not shown or communicated in this forecast graphic or write up. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyOne of the most absurd snow forecasts we’ve ever made here at MSC, we’ve had to add an impromptu orange color for higher totals.

Newberry Trail Report – 01/04

A short video of trail 498 over the weekend. Thanks for all the hard work our grooming team put in over the busy holiday weekend.

<>

1/2

We will groom down to Epoufette, out to the Pine Stump and County Rd 500 this afternoon into the night. A friendly reminder that ATV’s/ORV’s are NOT permitted on the groomed snowmobile trails.

We picked up 4-6 light fluffy snow yesterday throughout the day into the evening. The observation of the trail conditions are based on the amount of snow and traffic. 85% of the trail system is good. There are good spots and bad spots, however the majority of the bad is just the large amount of traffic. We are giving our best to fix it up with the amount of snow we have. We will see much colder temperatures this week which will help freeze it in. As always we want to encourage safe and responsible riding!! Please ride with caution.

Ride Right and Be Safe!!

All groomers will be heading out around 1:00pm today.

Trail 9: Groomed last night and will groom again tonight. Newberry to the Wolf Inn is Fair. The Wolf Inn North is Fair to Good.

Trail 45: Trail was groomed last night and we will run it again today to County Road 500. Beyond the 500 across the swamp is not frozen enough to open the gate.

CAUTION AREA!!!! There is logging off of Trail 45 before Camp Snort.

Trial 9/2 South: Groomed last night to Trout Lake and we will groom again today down to Epoufette. There is a water spot along the tracks between H-40 and Trout Lake Use CAUTION!

Your grooming team from the TASA Barn!!

Curfew in the Village of Newberry is 11:00pm to 7:00am.
