Newberry Trail Report – VisitNewberry.com – 01/20

January 20, 2011 8:00 A.M.

Trails are in good condition. Stan and Joe headed to Pine Stump. Trail #9 is in good condition.

Groomer Bert reported Trail #45 to the Falls is in Very good condition. Thank you to Paradise groomers for there help getting from the falls to County Rd. 500, they reported no water holes.

Trail #2/9 to Trout Lake and Eppoufette is thin in spots, but in good condition over all. Groomer Doug reported the trail is in good condition. Jeff is headed to to Rexton / Eppoufette.

Be careful on the corners as they may be icy.

Snow is expected today with up to 6" by Friday. There is blowing and drifting. The wind chill for tonight is for 20 below.

There is logging on Trail #45 North of Skyline Dr. for 4 to 5 miles. There is also logging South of M-123 on Trail #45.

Logging on Trail #498 North of Co. Rd. 455, be careful in these areas, as the trail may be plowed.

It has come to my attention that there is no fuel symbol on the snowmobile trail map for the North Store. The North Store is located at Wolf Inn Jct. They are open from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.

We need more snow! And cold weather.

The cerfew for the Village of Newberry is 11:00 P.M. until 7:00 A.M.

FYI: There will not be gas at Rainbow Lodge this year as they are closing for the winter. There is a gas pump logo on the trail map, but they will be CLOSED. The map is new for this year,and I recieved the information about Rainbow Lodge after the maps went to the printer.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/20

It’s WHITE again on the Keweenaw. -2 degrees this morning. Forecast for the UP: sunny and cold. Forecast for the Keweenaw: 1 to 5 inches of snow and cold! Good news is the snowmobile trails have been upgraded to good to very good. If you’re going out there, bundle up!

This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Friday, January 20, 2012.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Trails are in good to very good condition. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!! Please watch out for deer on the trails too.

There is logging on a short portion of Trails 132 and 133.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Houghton county – 21 inches on the ground, 108.5 inches fallen to date as of 1/19/12
Keweenaw county –18 inches on the ground, 90.5 inches fallen to date as of 1/20/12
