TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 01/02 Don’t let the view fool you. We have received a little over an inch of snow. Everything is white but not rideable. We lost everything in the warm up and will be starting all over. We have a winter weather advisory for 2-5 inches starting tomorrow. However, it all depends on which way the winds are blowing. Finger’s are crossed that they will be in our favor. We have some members going out tomorrow looking for downed trees due to the high winds. The groomers will be going out on the south and west trails tomorrow to pan the new snow down. If your out and see a downed tree that needs cleaned up, send us a message. Heavy snow and strong winds gusting to 45-55+ mph are expected to create localized blizzard conditions across open areas at times from mid-morning into early afternoon. Drifting snow may make travel especially difficult on secondary roadways. Power outages will also be possible, especially across areas that experienced icing on Sunday.
