Newberry Trail Report – 01/24

TASA UPDATE: Jan. 24 2019

We have received an additional 6 to 10 inches of snow this week. The weekend forecast is for colder temperatures especially at night.

Trail #9 (Holland Staging Area) Good to excellent condition. Please watch for the dog sledders crossing this trail. The areas are marked.
Trail #45 (Falls) Good to excellent condition. This trail is now groomed to the falls. Please be careful between M-123 and Skyline Road the road was graded this past fall and it has a crown in the middle that is causing problems for the groomer drivers until we get more snow. There is drop off on each side of the road.
Trail #2/9 (Epoufette/Trout Lake) Good to excellent condition. Trail #2 will be plowed west of Hurd Road for a logging operation. Hurd Road is west ofthe Rexton Store. Please watch for logging trucks. On trail #473 Graymont will be plowing a mile of our trail the location is east of H-40 (Caffey Corner). Please slow down in this area there will be signs.

St. Ignace Trail Report – Straits Area Snowmobile Club – 01/24

Just a quick update and I will do more later.

Over the last couple of days we received over a foot of new snow. Non of it is really packy, some sugar, some light, some just strange.

Groomers are running, and there are zero problems in the trails, all rated very good condition. The concern now is to get it all packed down, as it seems like loose snow. The smooth trails may get bumpy with use until we can get it all packed and froze down.

Temps this weekend are going to go back down to single digits. Be aware that if the temps drop to -10s, I will cancel groomer runs to same people and equipment, but other than that we should be running every day.

Be safe, be courteous, and if you see a groomer get out of his way please.
