Grand Marais Trail Report – 01/21

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 01/21

We’ve had heavy snow all day with up to 8 inches more predicted for tonight. Our groomers will head out tomorrow morning after deciding to let this snow pile up giving them lots to work with. It’ll help also to have what riders are out and about packing it down. Things have improved 💯 in the last few days.

<>

From groomer Emmett and trainee Tim on the West trail yesterday-All flat as a pancake. Tim did very well. One more time with other driver should be ready to go.

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 01/20

Groomers will be out on the trails again today working their magic. Be alert if you’re out riding today. Thanks!!

<>

From groomer Emmett on the west trail yesterday-Lots of snow to Adams trail then went to dirt east of 43. Very rough and hit a few rocks. Got my attention. Overall great.

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 1/17/26
22 degrees this morning and cloudy. Supposed to get a little snow today but the main thing is its supposed to stay cold for the foreseeable future! It snowed an blowed all day yesterday, its hard to say how much snow we got but I`ll call it 3-4". Been having trouble with my computer the last few days so I`ll say sorry cause I haven`t been keeping up on my reports. Here`s whats been going on with our trails.......
Its been really cold the last few days so we`ve been playing catch-up on our trails since that rain and warm up. Yesterday we took 2 machines w/o drags and ran trail #8 south to try and refreeze that trail down. The water holes on the power line and in the Federal Forest section really opened up with that warm up we had and made them impassable. Me and Groomer Dave were successful in gettin `er done! The gates are now open again in the Federal Forest and the big hole on the power line is filled in!! The swamp just south of town is still closed tho, I`ll cover that in a minute.
Today we are runnin the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and the Point trails #452 & #453. Tomorrow we are heading back into the Falls trail #45 with 2 machines w/o drags and see if we can`t get that finally froze in and opened up. If everything goes well in there we will get into the swamp south of town and see what we got on Monday. We will also run trail #8 south tomorrow with a drag.
So, there ya have it, a full run down on our system. If everything goes well we should have our full system opened up by the middle of next week.......FINALLY!!!!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Munising Area Trail Report – 01/21

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 01/21

TRAIL REPORT – Thursday, 01/21/2021 TRAILS COMING TOGETHER – NEED MORE SNOW! Grooming continued yesterday primarily starting to set Trail 7 South and Trail 422. Overall groomed trail conditions are good. Trail 7 heading South starts thinning South of Doe Lake Road. Trail 422 has vehicles still driving on Miners Castle Road and between M-28 and H-58 there are few large depressions. More snow is needed to fill in underlying trail defects in areas so keep an eye out for that surprise hole in the trail. No new snow last night but there are a few inches forecast daily over the next few days. If out riding please avoid hard throttle starts and digging holes so we can build a clean flat base that will hold. Note that Trail 417 will be rocky and needs much more snow before it can be set. Please be patient as it will take a few days to get these trail setting grooming runs completed. Continue the snow dances and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 01/21

Well we got a few inches is snow today and more to come overnight and I to tomorrow. Thank you to those that have been doing thier snow dance. It is starting to work. Still not a lot to work with but we are out and doing what we can. So far everything looks good but I’ll know more later in the morning. I think it time to ride folks. Be safe out there, and please try to help out the local eateries all you can. Hopefully they will be able to open up soon. We will be groom through Saturday for sure to keep it good for the weekend. However there will be a couple spots with a lot of water in that we will be avoiding with the groomer for now. They should be safe for a sled tho. Have fun, and ride right…
