Can’t emphasize this enough download the Groomer Tracker app it’s awesome! You can see where and when the groomers have groomed through our MI, WI, MN and a couple other states.

If you are able to join a club and help groom no matter where you live that would be awesome! All help is appreciated!!! Have fun everyone and stay to the right!! Now time to clean the groomer off & get some rest 😊🇺🇸⛄❄ www.kruppsresortmi.com

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 12/18

Nick Heelein just spent the last two days riding the Keweenaw and shared these photos with us!
Nick said, “Had a great time on the trails the last two days, even got to ride on freshly groomed trails last night!

Trails were in good condition with the exception of the ones leading to Eagle Harbor/Eagle River/and Gay(limited snow and wet areas) We enjoyed stops at the The Mariner North, Luigi’s Bar Calumet, The Gay Bar, Maple Leaf/ American Legion Post 291, and Quincy’s Dining Co!”

Thanks for sharing Nick!

A few reminders:
🛑 The Portage Lake Lift Bridge has not yet been opened for snowmobile crossing. This means you must trailer across to ride north or south of the bridge.
🛑 Trail 124 is temporarily closed for logging – latest update from the club now states “Tentatively will open around 1/15/25”
⚠ Trail 133 is listed as being open as of 12/15/24 according to the club however, they warn “Trail 133 is now open, but has not been groomed yet. Please ride with caution and expect closed gates and other obstacles.”
NOTE: it appears a groomer is heading down trail 133 as we post this. Hopefully will have further update from the club in the morning!
⚠ There is a reroute on trail 3 (south of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge) in Twin Lakes. Please follow the signs for the trail and refrain from riding along side of the highway.
‼ Thankfully, we are under a current winter weather advisory and some fresh snow is forecasted to fall over the area.
✅ Download the Groomer Tracker app and subscribe to the clubs where you ride! For only $10 (of which $5 comes directly back to the club) you can have up to the moment grooming operation information!
Checkout Krupps Resort and Adventure Motels Facebook pages for some photos of tonight’s grooming runs within the The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club trail system! Give these amazing businesses your support, as they are not only working to provide you great lodging options, but also out grooming the trails for you! ALL of the local businesses work hard, in many ways, to help ensure your trip to the area is the very best possible!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western UP Trail Reports >> 28 December 2025
Four days of warm weather and a fair amount of traffic took its toll on the trails. It's what we call a surgery snow that's hard to work with but you mix it with the fresh stuff that's coming and it's good to go, I hope.

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> ~(Updated) Snowfall Forecast Sunrise Sunday-Sunrise Tuesday~
A major winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to portions of the region. Most of the accumulating snow will be along and north of I-80. No matter how much snow will fall, there will be strong northwest winds that will create blowing and drifting snow. Travel north of I-80 will be near impossible at times. Some road closures are possible along and north of I-90 given greater accumulation and more persistent blizzard-like conditions. Heaviest snowfall totals through sunrise Tuesday (there will be more after) will be along Lake Superior. Snowfall rates could exceed 2" an hour at times due to lake enhancement. Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Alright Michigan.. Let's dive right back into it. We have yet another system coming our way for Sunday into Monday which will bring SEVERAL different impacts to portions of the state... #miweather #keweenaw #westernupAlright Michigan.. Let's dive right back into it. We have yet another system coming our way for Sunday into Monday which will bring SEVERAL different impacts to portions of the state.

Let's start with JUST SUNDAY. This system begins as rain Sunday morning for lower Michigan, with a bit of mixed precipitation possible further north.. think near Mackinac areas.

Sunday afternoon, we will see an uptick in rainfall intensity and even see some thunderstorms across central and southern lower Michigan, with a severe weather risk sitting just off to our south during the afternoon. During this Sunday afternoon period, snow will also begin to ramp up in the Upper Peninsula while northern lower Michigan and the eastern UP will continue to see a mixed precipitation.

Sunday night is when things start to get wild. Temperatures across lower Michigan will drop from 40s and 50s down to the 20s in a matter of 2-4 hours. Keep in mind, it will be raining prior to this temperature drop, so a situation may unfold where wet surfaces will freeze over and become icy. This could be another scenario of what we call a flash freeze.

This concludes SUNDAY'S "part 1" forecast.

This system WILL CONTINUE into MONDAY as a lake effect snow AND wind event.

After midnight and into Monday morning, lake effect snow will ramp up across much of the state, with wind gusts also increasing to 40-50+mph across ALL of Michigan. Major snow accumulations are possible for lake effect belts of western and northern lower Michigan, and much of the UP during Monday. Given strong winds, lake effect bands and snow squalls will likely drift into eastern Michigan which may lightly accumulate in localized areas. A winter storm watch is already in effect for nearly ALL of the UP in anticipation of this system.

In summary, this is a two part system spanning 48+ hours with A LOT going on. We will host a live briefing tonight at 7pm to talk it through.

Expect a full forecast package to be released throughout tomorrow which will likely include first call graphics for:

-Snowfall totals
-Rainfall amounts
-Thunderstorm/Severe weather outlook
-Wind map
-Icing amounts

And infographics on:

-Potential flash freeze
-Snow squalls
-Power outage possibilities
-Timing map
-Traffic map

Stay tuned!

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/19

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 12/19

12/19 afternoon update
If you subscribe to our trail system on Groomer Tracker, then you’re seeing the green lines starting back up out of the Soo barn.

The Raco crew will resume their normal schedule tonight, until it’s too warm to groom again.

I haven’t heard from the Kinross guys yet, but I know things were pretty flat there before the warm up. We will be out at some point to remove the berm on 472 near Centerline.

Thanks all! Trails are likely icy, so use caution. Rider reports and pics always welcome! ❄️❄️❄️

<>

12/19 update-
Good morning all! No groomers rolling yet, but I’ll keep you posted. We didn’t get much new snow, so there’s not a lot we can do with the trails. It appears we held on to the base, so that’s awesome! I would assume ice scratchers may be needed with the hard packed trail surface.

Also an important trail update: trail 472 has a signage change. Following the landowner dispute resolution that was reached, Ryan and Pete added stop signs at a driveway, just east of the intersection of 472 (Postma Rd) and Centerline Road. Law enforcement will be closely monitoring for adherence.

There is currently a snow and ice pile in the middle of the trail, but will be removed by our groomer as soon as we can get out there.

Thank you to our DNR partners, the landowner, Pete, Dennis, Tom, and Ryan for assisting to make this better for all involved👍🏼

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/28/25 5:30 PM update
Using this to gauge our starting point for the incoming storm here in the Soo. The location for this measurement is just off of trail 8 as you head west out of the Soo, about 3 miles from downtown. Lake effect snow can and does vary widely, so we appreciate any snow reports tomorrow and on.
We can hear the ice hitting the trees and hard surfaces currently. Businesses are closing early and some are already closing for tomorrow.
It appears that it will switch to snow around 10pm tonight when temps also start to drop.
PLEASE be safe. First responders are asking people not to travel unless absolutely necessary. #soo #soo1228 #snowphotos12/28/25 5:30 PM update

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/27/25
Good evening! I just got back from a ride from the Soo to Hulbert and back and the trails are very busy, as expected.
Unfortunately, grooming is on pause for us for a couple of reasons- 1) it’s too warm for it to make any difference whatsoever 2) we need more snow (and it’s coming!)
🚨 Please take note- the Pisten Bully that stays in Raco and does the Raco/Brimley/Bay Mills areas (8 west of Brimley, 480 from the Raco gate to 8, and 889) has a leaking hydraulic seal and had to be brought into the Soo barn tonight. We are awaiting the part and anticipate that it may be down until Tuesday🚨
Trails will be a bit sloppy with the warmer temps and higher traffic.
The snow is soft and corners are icy, so please be careful. We heard of 2 accidents today, unfortunately. We are hopeful that the riders are ok❤️‍🩹
Significant lake effect snow is expected tomorrow night into Tuesday, and we’ll roll groomers out as soon as it makes sense to do so.
Please ride safe, and ride sober. There are lots of families out there and we all need to work together to ensure we can all make it back safely.
Thanks all! Snow and colder temps are on the way and we’ll keep you posted! 🙌🏼❄️❄️❄️ #soo #snowphotos #soo1227

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/27/25
Good morning!
No real significant snow in our area yesterday, though we did pick up a general 4-5” inches over much of our area.
We did have groomers out yesterday in the Raco, Bay Mills, and Brimley areas, on 8, 889, and part of 480, as well as on trail 49 from the Soo to 12 mile, and also on 49 from Devils Hill to Kinross and the 494 loop. We skipped the thin section south of 12 to preserve the new snow and let riders pack it. City trails will be done tonight if needed, as well as trail 8 from the Soo to Brimley.
I’ll be going for a ride later today and I’ll report what I see.
Significant snow is forecasted for tomorrow through Tuesday, along with high winds so that could get interesting.
Remember, we are on Groomer Tracker, subscribe today!
Ride safe! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo
