Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/09

Conditions: Fair

These photos just in taken during today’s groom out of Boon. The groomer operator reported the forest roads are holding up well but narrow trails are stressed. The Boon to Mesick area being groomed was receiving snow this afternoon. Wexford County is in a Winter Storm Watch for the next 24 hours.

To better access the forest trails, you’ll want to use one of the Staging Areas below:

33 Rd Staging Area–S of M-55–approx.. 3 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Caberfae Staging Area–approx.. 12 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Boon Staging Area–park in plowed area south of Boon Grocery

Note: The porta-a-johns were removed from our staging areas today as our contracts on them expired 3-15-13.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 02/10

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Wednesday, February 10, 2016.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open. The groomers are out and trails are in good to very good condition.

There is a re-route on Trail #133. Please watch for the signs.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails, they have the right of way!!

There is active logging on Trail #120 and on part of the Bill Nicholls Trail. PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL IN THESE AREAS! It is for your safety as well as the loggers.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders’ safety. Please DO NOT remove or destroy these signs. Please keep out of the Houghton City RV Park or we will no longer have access to this area of the trail.

Houghton county – 30 inches of snow on the ground, 124 inches fallen to date as of 2/9/16.
Keweenaw county – 42 inches of snow on the ground,171 inches fallen to date as of 2/10/16.

Tomorrow’s Forecast: 50% chance of snow, high 14, low 4
Friday: Cloudy with a 50% chance snow, high 3, low -6
