Munising Area Trail Report – 03/06

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 03/06

TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, 03-06-2021 STILL FAIR TO BORDER-LINE GOOD TRAIL CONDITIONS! No significant Changes. Groomer Operators reporting fair results with no new snow. Limited snow and recent warm weather this season has given us a very hard base covered with a thin layer of soft sugary snow and some icy corners. Most of our Trail System is in Overall Fair to almost Good condition with some outlying areas in poor condition. Trail 8 from Shingleton West to Trail 417 is a bit choppy in areas but fairly flat. Trail 417 to Brownstone Intersection and Trail 7 from 2 miles South of Christmas South to Buckhorn Road and Trail 418 are in Fair condition and a bit choppy. Trail 7 South of Doe Lake Road and Trail 419 from Wetmore to about 2 miles Northwest of Munising are in poor condition. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. Trail 8 North of Shingleton is fairly flat for 7 miles North of Shingleton but listed as Poor due to being very thin for the first 4 miles heading North with a few bare patches and bare or icy corners. Day-by-Day changes this time of year so Keep snow dancing, get out and ENJOY what is left of the Trails, Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates!

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan - With meteorological summer underway, here’s a look back at how the 2020-2021 snowfall season stacked up across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The snow season certainly didn’t stack up to U.P. standards as snowfall ranged from roughly 20 to as much as around 80 inches below the long term average. The greatest departures occurred in some areas within the Lake Superior snowbelts. The last winter that had a poor snow showing on par with what occurred this past winter was 2011-2012. You can view past snow seasons back to 2002-2003 at www.weather.gov/mqt/seasonsnowfallmaps #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo ... See MoreSee Less

TRAIL REPORT – Friday, 03-05-2021 STILL FAIR TO BORDER-LINE GOOD TRAIL CONDITIONS! Trail 8 from Shingleton West to Trail 417 is our best stretch of trail. Trail 417 to Brownstone Intersection and Trail 7 from 2 miles South of Christmas South to Buckhorn Road and Trail 418 are in Fair condition and a bit choppy. Trail 8 from Shingleton North for about 5 miles, Trail 7 South of Doe Lake Road and Trail 419 from Wetmore to about 2 miles Northwest of Munising are in poor condition. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. We did our last grooming run covering for Seney last night with decent late season results. This is again East for 14 miles on Trail 8 from the Bear Trap intersection to the Trail 43 intersection. Day-by-Day changes this time of year so Keep snow dancing, get out and ENJOY what is left of the Trails, Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates!
