Newberry Trail Report – Visit Newberry – 01/04

Wednsday January 4, 2011 8:00 A.M.

Trails are in fair condition, the county roads are smooth, but the trails are a little rough. The trail along Co. Rd. 407 to Holland Lake staging area doesn’t have much snow on it. The weather this week is for a warming trend until Friday Newberry is expecting 1 to 2" of the white stuff between now and Thursday. There are a lot of sledders north up near Grand Marais over to Pine Stump Junction.

Due to warm up we will not groom today. We need more snow

Trail #9 North 4" Base with 2 to 4"new snow last night. More snow North.

Trail # 45 North to the Co. Rd. 500 is in fair condition

Trail # 9 and #2 is fair to good in some areas.

(We are currently working with 2 groomers)

The cerfew for the Village of Newberry is 11:00 P.M. until 7:00 A.M.

FYI: There will not be gas at Rainbow Lodge this year as they are closing for the winter. There is a gas pump logo on the trail map, but they will be CLOSED. The map is new for this year, and I recieved the information about Rainbow Lodge after the maps went to the printer.

For those of you visiting our website FYI !! UPDATED 12-12-11
Snowmobile Trail # 8 between Marquette and Negaunee will be closed until end of December. Over the summer vandals started a fire on the wooden trestle bridge over the Carp River. The fire did extensive damage to the deck and unfortunately the wooden beams below. The Hiawatha Snowmobile Club has received a Grant from the snowmobile trail program to repair the structure. The deck planking has arrived but the large beams are not slated to be in until the LAST week of December.

Traverse City Trail Report – Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals – 01/04

Blue Sky Rentals
First time out this season. Took some of the family on a tour of the Boardman — in Williamsburg, MI.

Well, we rode from Peegeo’s towards Kalkaska to about Smith Rd, then headed back and went south to the Ranch. Trails were groomed and not to bad for riding. I would say conditions are fair as most of the trail is a snowy dirt mix. There is a base and the riding was fun. We could use more snow for sure. Not sure how much grooming will be done for now.

Our Shanty Creek location is open and the trails in the Mancelona area are a bit better from reports. We are going to ride tomorrow to get the ‘real’ story’. Time to reserve your winter fun on one of our Brand new 600 liquids today.

2ND LOCATION: Blue Sky has added a 2nd location at Shanty Creek Resort. We have Brand new 600 liquid 2 person and single person SkiDoo Snowmobiles. Check out our website for more details www.bluesky-tvc.com or call us today. 231.633.2584
