Cadillac Area Trail Report – 01/29

We had an amazing weekend. Lots of snowmobilers in the area taking advantage of the great conditions. Unfortunately, right now the weather is playing tricks on us. It’s currently raining and temperatures are expected to be in the 40’s before the day is over and remain above freezing overnight. Fortunately, the warm temperatures and rain aren’t expected to hang around long so hopefully they won’t do much damage. Lake effect snow and colder temperatures are expected to kick in early tomorrow afternoon.

Snow accumulation: 7 to 10 inches

REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 01/29

We have a freezing rain advisory until 11am today. Temps will drop tonight with snow in the forecast. Tomorrow temps will be in the 20’s with snow. Thursday and Friday temps will drop again with single digits during the day and below zero at night. Saturday temps will be back up into the teens with a chance of snow.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority reports the groomers are both down. Trails are in poor condition. They are planning on getting one back out tonight to start grooming again. Hopefully they will have the other groomer back in service tomorrow. Trails are in poor conditions due to groomers being broke down. Trail 11N was groomed on Saturday about 10 miles north. Please use caution corners are icy and trails are rough.

The Lake Gogebic groomers report: All groomers went out yesterday to get the trails back into good shape. All trails are in good condition. Due to the warm weather today groomers will wait until tonight to go back out on the trails to groom. Trails on the south side of the lake, going to Presque Isle snow is a little bit thinner but rideable. PLEASE REMEMBER TO PULL OVER IF YOU SEE A GROOMER. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY…

The Watersmeet groomers went out. All trails are rolled and are in fair condition. Due to the weather today expect icy conditions. Please use cautions corners are icy. Trail 3 south to Land O Lakes the snow is thin but rideable.

Keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by.

Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!
