January 20, 2020

Snowmobile trails are in good to very good condition throughout the Keweenaw. Over the weekend, the Keweenaw received nearly 30 inches of lake effect snow making for good riding conditions. Trails are groomed daily throughout the region.

Valley Sno Drifters trail from Lake Linden to Dreamland Restaurant & Bar is OPEN!
The Portage Lift Bridge is open to snowmobile traffic.
Trail 133 around the Gay stamp sands is closed for logging.
Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden and the Freda Trail (south of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge) will be closed the entire season for repair.

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away.

Please stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for rider’s safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/20

Now that was a great weekend of riding…….that is for everyone that was out there. I only wish I could have got on my sled and enjoy this (finally) over abundance of snow. Not a good weekend for me to be without my plow but I made it thru anyways. Lots of riders in Frederic all day friday, saturday and sunday and this morning I had quite a few the first hour I was here but now no one has been in in an hour and its about 11:30. 4 degrees this morning and no new snow.

Talked to several people that made it to the bridge over the weekend so that is good. I am hoping maybe I can go for a ride tommorow. Wow just looking out the front and there are big flakes showing.

A really really HUGE THANK YOU….. to Korie with a K from the Swamp Bar who brought me in a birthday cake yesterday morning. She has been a great asset to the Swamp and is a great bar manager and would be a perfect new owner for the place as I have had many riders in here saying how much they like her. I was certainly surprised when she came in the door with it…….Ended up sharing it with a couple other riders that were in here yesterday on their own Birthdays. So all in all I think everyone had a great time this weekend except maybe for the 3 sleds that fell thru the ice at houghton lake along with the guy that owned the truck that went thru the ice. All those happened on sunday. Lakes and ice are still nothing to be trusted this season. And a Happy Birthday to my brother Alex down in Kzoo. Thanks for checking and and thank to all that stopped in to see me these past few days. Pete
