Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/13

This is it…..( thats what Michael Jackson said) . Its what we have been waiting for. The weather man is now predicting snow for the next week. We had about 2 inches of new overnight and it was nice and cold. Its a little sunny now at 12:30 in Frederic but still only 14 degrees. Even just a couple inches a day would be great if it continues for a week. We have to wait and see how it pans out.

A few sleds in so far this morning. Riders are still saying good trails except one guy told me he tried for Lewiston yesterday and it was very rough…..Thats wierd as I did it the day before and it was fine. You just never know. I also saw someone else on my page saying how bad it was in Grayling but I totally disagree with them as everyone I have talked to has been more than happy. For the snow we do have I still think its great. Unfortuanetely we dont have the snow like Quebec & Montreal……

I have had several people ask me if anything has turned up Steves missing sled from the Porter Haus saturday night……nope nothing found so far. I actually went and looked at the parking corral there and its pretty small and tight to get into. They have limited parking there but I wouldnt want my sled in that back corner……once 20 sleds got in there it would be hard to move around……(just my opinion)……took the pic below out the front door here this morning and here are 2 more pics from saturdays sled/groomer accident. Still so lucky everyone lived……With it coming up on president weekend and people staying longer keep Safety on the top of your list of things to be aware of. Thanks for checking in. Pete

We got 5″ of fresh snow last night making the already flat trails even better. Single digit temps and more snow in the forecast for Saturday will make this coming weekend PERFECT…don’t miss it…

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 2/12

I rode almost our entire trail system yesterday with a friend and I want to say that it is in the best condition that I have seen it in all year. The groomers have done an outstanding job with the amount of snow we have. Yes there are a couple of spots that could use a little more snow but overall the trails were hard packed with a few inches of fresh snow on top. The groomers worked at making the hard pack base nice and smooth and it has payed off. If you can get out for a midweek ride I highly suggest it. Great riding and almost no one out there.
