Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/24

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 2/24

It’s a sunny and 12 degree thursday monring in downtown Frederic. There is a slight covering of snow over rock hard snow and ice from the past couple of days. I have had several calls about conditions. I was asked if I would ride in this. I guess it depends how desperate you are. Right now I say yes you could get a ride in on top of what we have now. If it starts melting remember you are on top of only a couple inches of snow and ice and then there is dirt. The trail north to gaylord looked decent for now anyways. Gaylord was supposed to have a snowmobile festival this weekend which they have caneled due to conditions. I did see one sled in town here this morning, so at least someone is out. I have been gone for 3 days and there were no tracks in my snow around the building……sounds like the same old blah, blah, blah……On the other hand I heard on the radio twice this morning that marquette had 21 inches yesterday. Biggest snowfall ever for February for them…..I wish I had better things to tell you. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Snow will diminish this morning, ending by early afternoon. Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Gusts to around 30 mph will be common. That will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow today, especially in places that are more open and exposed. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeySnow will diminish this morning, ending by early afternoon. Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/24

February 24, 2022

7 degrees this morning and cloudy. No new snow yesterday or last night but boy have we been hammered the couple days before! Sorry for no new reports since Monday but I have been a VERY busy man digging out and grooming. I haven`t given you a full run down on our system for a while so here we go…….

First off, remember we have a machine down, more on that at the end. Groomer Kevin ran the Falls trail #45 last night and rated it as very good to excellent. I ran the South trail #8 yesterday and will call it excellent. Even in the narrow sections (which tend to get bumpy) like the swamp and the federal forest section. The Pine Stump trail #8 is rated at good to very good but there still is a lot of drift issues out in "siberia". Groomer Mike C. is gonna hit that trail today. The Point trails #452 and #453 are only rated as good. This is because they are a tad bumpy cause they have not been run in a few days. Groomer Glenn is gonna hit them today as well. So thats the trails, here`s the rest of the story……

Like I said, we have a machine down. We got it figured out what we need to get it back up. We are ordering parts today so it just depends on how long it will take for them to get here. We still haven`t found the long lost wheel and tire out on trail #452. If you find it, please return it to us. That will save us about $1000. Since we are runnin a 2 machine schedule now, some of the trails won`t get run everyday. There simply isn`t enough time in a day to do that. We will run the Falls trail #45 everyday cause thats the shortest run we have and the busiest trail we have. We will run the other trails every other day but try to double up on the weekends. We are probably lookin at a couple weeks before we can get the other machine going. Soooo……thats what we have going. Please cut us some slack if you run across a bumpy trail, its outa our control.

RIDE RIGHT and RIDE SAFE and, as always……

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump >> 1-11-26
Around 4 inches of snow last night. I see the groomers all made it out. I would guess the trails should freeze up flat now.
I would imagine it will be lower traffic during the week. It would be a pretty good week to ride if you can sneak away! #newberry #snowphotos

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Widespread snow will begin to spread west to east this morning while a heavier snowband looks to set up in the central UP this afternoon. Uncertainty still remains where this snowband will park, however, heavy snowfall rates will likely create difficult travel along US-41 from Delta to Marquette/Alger counties. Tonight, widespread snow transitions to lake effect snow for the north wind snowbelts.
