KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 2/08
Many riders have seen the sun set on top of Brockway Mountain…..  how many of you have seen a sunrise?  Waking up early and riding to see the sunrise should be on everyone’s bucket list at least once.
This 80ish mile, one way trip was well worth it for this morning’s Copper Harbor sunrise….. even if playing hooky from work, may or may not have been involved 😂🤷♀️
Flat as a pancake from Toivola to Copper Harbor! Get out there and ride!

We received another 6.5 inches this morning and it's still snowing at 10:00am. Pretty much white out conditions all morning and it's still very poor visibility.
Stay warm it's only 1° right now.
I thought I'd share a few picks from my ride down 109 yesterday while I grooming.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Snow and blowing snow today will result in near blizzard like conditions for many areas. This will create hazardous and dangerous travel, especially this morning. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Tonight and Monday morning, moderate to occasionally heavy lake effect will be accompanied by strong winds and create blowing snow concerns. Near blizzard conditions expected in the Keweenaw Peninsula, Marquette, and Alger counties, especially in areas exposed to the north or northwest. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaTonight and Monday morning, moderate to occasionally heavy lake effect will be accompanied by strong winds and create blowing snow concerns. There are still some wet spots and many sticks (early season conditions on this trail) but it’s OPEN y’all! Shoutout to the guys from the South Range Snowmobile Club who assisted yesterday in cutting the down trees and getting it prepped for the team to pack in today! Please note the “spur” to Freda is NOT repaired and NOT open or accessible! #keweenaw #snowphotosHUGE ANNOUNCEMENT! 📣 For the first time since the 2018 Fathers Day flood, our team was able to open and groom the Freda Loop! KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The Lakeshack >> With 3” of new snow it brings our total to 133.35” for the season and a total current depth here in Twin Lakes to 33”
I can personally say that it seems like quite a bit more deep in the woods seeing some mounds on stumps etc…
It looks like some significant snows will move in again tonight, so keep an eye on the Shackiecam for 24/7 live streaming coverage

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> W❄️W! What an amazing week it has been on the trails!
The first half of the week was unusually quiet as far as traffic and the trails seriously couldn’t have been better! As we move into the weekend, traffic is definitely picking up but trails have still been in great shape! Huge thank you to all of the clubs and groomer operators!
Ryan Bennet and Nikki McGill set out to enjoy some of the trails this morning from Krupps Resort and they weren’t disappointed! Ryan shared these photos with us and said, “Have had a GREAT day so far! Ran down 3 to 12, over to 174 down to Sidnaw. Back up 109 through the Sturgeon River Gorge, ran up to Church in the Valley Bar. Will be taking 109 back to Twin Lakes. What a great 160+ mile day!”
This weekend and upcoming week’s forecast includes fresh snow and colder temps each day! Just what ever sledder ordered!
