Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 01/01

Happy New Year! Finally, today we had the chance to get out for a ride. It’s a bit quiet today after a hectec week of nonstop no vacancy. After breakfast we eagerly headed out to get the sleds out.
There were very few riders also today. Guess everyone is home recuperating from their celebrations last night.
We were disappointed once we got on the trail. Trail 7 directly along Old 27 out front here was very rough. Bump after bump. No chance to rest and enjoy it at all. Our intention had been to take 7 up into Gaylord, then over to the North/South Loop and onto Lovells/Lewistown. We have had several riders report that was a good ride over there. We decided we did not want to endure trail 7 anymore than what we really had to. We’re just getting too old to tolerant that jostling. It takes the fun out of it. So..
We turned onto trail 4. Which was better. Still some rough spots but not the constant jarring.
We enjoyed 40 miles of fun riding. We did most of it along the roads. Cameron Bridge Road, Deward Road and the roads/trails between. Still very pretty thru the countryside and woods. That heavy snow still several inches thick on the trees.
The groomers have worked hard this week. I think they probably just took the day off to enjoy the holiday like most of us.

Traverse City Trail Report – TC WebGuide – 01/01

Blue Sky Rentals – Traverse City – January 1

80 mile guided tour today with Andrew and Diane Schoniech from The Chicago area. Trails were holding up pretty well. Fresh snow last night in Kalkaska made the route from Fife Lake to Kalkaska the highlight of the day. We need more snow as the trails are getting pretty snirty!

Ranch Rudolph – 1/1/13

We haven’t had much more than flurries in the last few days, but despite the amount of sleds that have been on the trails this last week, they are still in pretty darn good shape. About 90% covered, wearing thin and getting a little dirty in some spots.

Groomers Running: Yes

Base: 1-2 inches

Trail Condition: Fair to Good

Snowfall in Past 24 hours: Flurries, nothing significant

Grand Traverse Snowmobile Club – 12/30

TOTAL BASE: 3 inches

SNOWFALL LAST 24 HOURS:Trace

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Very Good to Excellent

The groomers have been out working their magic on the trails. The trails are looking very good even with the heavy weekend traffic, the snow is a little thin in the Fife Lake area and there is a few spots where dirt is showing. The riding is excellent and the riders seem to be happy.

Remember all of our groomer drivers are volunteers, and most of them are snowmobilers giving up some riding time to groom so that you have groomed trails to ride on, so if you get a chance tell them thank you or a thumbs up, it means alot to them to know they are appreciated. Make sure to pick up one of our trail maps, we have some out on the trails in mailboxes at some map board locations and at our map sponsors. Support our sponsors and when you visit one of them tell them thank you for supporting GTASC
