Munising Area Trail Report – 12/01

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA >> 12/01

Trails are officially open.

Gates in Shingleton have been opened.

Gates in Chocolay will be open in the next couple of hours.
We did a lot of work this fall getting the trails flat. Also extensive brushing and improved signing. Over the next couple of days we will be finishing up signing on miners castle trail which is open after being closed last year. You don’t realize how many signs are on a snowmobile trail until you spend a day with a post hole digger.

We saw a lot of rain for 2 days before the snow hit. No frost in the ground. Swamps are going to be wet. Temps are dropping and we are closely monitoring. Get those sleds out there and start packing in a base. We did some testing today and we created a muddy mess. Things should set up pretty nice looking at the weather guessers forecasted temps. We are off to a good start.

There is a significant difference in snow depth across our system. It seems like we saw more snow to the South. Closer to Lake Superior saw less. We saw some serious winds and have had folks out clearing down trees.

Ride with caution out there. Early Season Conditions.

Harbor Springs Area Trail Report – 12/01

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> 12/01

Today marks the official start of the 2025–2026 snowmobile season!

We’re kicking things off with 8–12” of fresh snow, which is exciting to see. However, please remember that the ground isn’t frozen yet, water holes are still open, and we do not have enough snow to cover washouts or ruts. Trails are not rideable at this time.

It’s been a long road to get things back in shape, and we’re proud of the progress—but there’s still a little work to do. A few signs still need to be reset, and we have one or two washouts we’re aiming to fix soon.

This month’s meetings will cover trail updates, remaining projects, and preparation for the upcoming busy season. We’d love to see everyone there!

📍 Groomer Operator Meeting
Wednesday, 12/3 at 6:30 PM — Pellston Barn

📍 Monthly Club Meeting
Thursday, 12/4 at 7:00 PM — Harbor Barn

🍕 All-You-Can-Eat Pizza Night!
Tuesday 12/9 at 5:00 PM — Moose Jaw Junction

Come out, enjoy some great food, and support the club!

Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for your patience and support! ❄️🛷

The drag can chunk the trail leaving behind large snow balls that freeze and can hurt someone. We will be back out as soon as it gets cold again. #petoskeyTrails groomed tonight by Shane and Joe.
