Harbor Springs Area Trail Report – 12/01
HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> 12/01 Today marks the official start of the 2025–2026 snowmobile season! We’re kicking things off with 8–12” of fresh snow, which is exciting to see. However, please remember that the ground isn’t frozen yet, water holes are still open, and we do not have enough snow to cover washouts or ruts. Trails are not rideable at this time. It’s been a long road to get things back in shape, and we’re proud of the progress—but there’s still a little work to do. A few signs still need to be reset, and we have one or two washouts we’re aiming to fix soon. This month’s meetings will cover trail updates, remaining projects, and preparation for the upcoming busy season. Lake effect snow continues tonight downwind of the big lakes into Monday AM.
A few more inches for the classic snowbelts into tonight.
NW winds tonight go more SW by Monday PM.
More lake effect near the Lake MI shoreline, Straits & U.P. late Monday into Tuesday with some locally higher totals.
Another system Wednesday late AM & PM could bring more snow.

Pretty spot on! We had very minor fluctuations, which I know Meteorologist Joel Fritsma will likely dive into a full analysis later on this week, but overall the forecast was VERY solid.

Essentially, this is nearly the same map I shared previously. I just narrowed the ranges slightly. Shape is the exact same. I do think some lake enhancement from Lake Huron is possible, so, I highlighted that. Also, the higher elevations of the western U.P. COULD get slightly more. I'd say it's just a chance, but a big enough chance that I added it to the map.
This is just a fine, fine tune before the big event. Think of it as I just polished my Stingray before a car show 😛
