TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Ranch Rudolf >> 01/22
Its currently snowing with a forecast of 1-3 tonight and 1-3 tomorrow. Groomer Pat did the north trail today. Pat says the trails are the best they have been so far. There flat, smooth and white. He says come out and get some.
Groomer Jeremy did the east run and said the trails look great. He reported that he had 3 inches of fresh snow near Kalkaska. Thanks guys for volunteering your time to groom our trails. I’ll update again tomorrow.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Happy New Year, northern Michigan! Accumulating lake effect snow will continue today into tonight, mainly across Chippewa county. An additional 2-4” is expected for parts of the county with localized amounts of 6”+ possible near Sault Ste. Marie. Mike said the trails groomed up nice with the exceptions of a few small water holes. Looking at his ribbon, I think I'm going out for a ride today. Thanks Mike for volunteering your time. Also, GTASC will be enrolling in the Groomer Tracking App program. Groomer Mike was instrumental in getting the GTASC on-line with this program. We anticipate to have this up and running very soon. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Lake effect snow continues tonight through Wednesday with additional accumulations of 4-8" across the snow belts. Locally higher amounts will be possible. TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> And with the wind, down come the tree's! A group of members went out today to take care of the downed tree's on the South and West trails.
There is still more that needs to be completed, so be aware if you are out riding. Special thanks to Paul, David, Pat, Steve and Jeff for volunteering their time. Thanks to the group of riders coming from Kingsley that helped out with one of the tree's. Also, thanks to the gentleman from Fife Lake that came with a large chain saws for a big tree that had fallen there. It takes everyone lending a hand to keep these trails safe. The trails are being panned and the groomer drivers are reporting numerous water holes due to the rain we received prior to the snow. Be careful out there.
