Gaylord Area Trail Report – VisitGaylord.com – 02/09

With the cold temps the trails will quickly freeze solid and give a good base. Snow is in the forecast for the next several days. – via Ray’s Retreat

Sledheads of Frederic – 2/9

Got here at 9 this morning, lite snow in the air and it looks like it was way to warm yesterday as the parking lot is mostly hard ice. Things really firmed up, its 26 out right now. Winter weather advisories are out for most of northern Michigan but they only come up to the west county lines of both Crawford and Otsego counties so who knows if we will get snow. Fresh groomer marks on the grayling trails this morning but again I think its pretty hard we could use some new snow on them, checked trail 7 from Gaylord and while it didn’t look bad I didn’t see any recent marks from the groomer. …..

Sidnaw / Bruce Crossing Trail Report – 02/09

Groomer Report:

We have about four inches of fresh snow in the last 24 hours. We have one groomer down for a couple days so we will be alternating with one machine, it will go east in the morning and then west in the evening. We should be back to normal by Thursday.

When I report “base” that is the depth of the un-groomed snow on my yard in Sidnaw. There is no possible way to accurately report what the depth is under your snowmobile on the groomed trail, it varies widely. There is around 20′ of snow in the yard.

Trail #3 North to Rockland is in GOOD condition..

Trail #8 from Ewen to trail #3 North is in GOOD condition.

Trail #3/8 from Bruce Crossing to the trail #3 South intersection is in GOOD condition with some thin areas.

Trail #3 South from the railroad grade to the CC road is in GOOD condition with a couple thin spots.

Trail #8 from the trail #3 South intersection to Trout Creek is in GOOD condition.

Trail #8 from Trout Creek to Sidnaw is in GOOD condition.

Trail #8/15 from Sidnaw to the trail #109 intersection is in VERY GOOD condition.

Watch for the groomers, they take up most of the trail and have the right of way!

Please pull over and dim your lights for them, they have a long day out there.

Use caution when using the RiderX trail maps, they are wrong! Watch the trail signs for the correct routes.

Please do not climb the “Military Hill” from the highway to the fence, we have ongoing erosion issues there and the hill climbers are adding to the problem.

Have a fun and safe trip, thank you for riding our trails and visiting our local businesses!
