Greenland Trail Report – Superior Snowmobile Club – 02/23

02-22-2016 I just got reprimanded by a snowmobiler that I am behind in our trail report. Sorry, it’s been quite busy in this area. On Fri. the 19th, we did have a little lighter rain for awhile, shortly turning to sleet for short period of time and then to a wet snow. Temp was too warm to groom Fri. night. Sat we had constant light snow all day and still too warm to groom. Sunday temp dropped and our groomers headed out during the day to start getting caught up. Trail 3 was groomed from Twin Lakes all the way to Rockland area. Trail 3 was actually so rough it was groomed twice last night. Trail 13 has been groomed, also. The break in the weather that we just experienced didn’t hurt us much-what hurt us the most was not being able to groom with the warm temps. When above freezing, the snow just balls up in the drag leaving large chunks to freeze when temp drops so better staying off the grooming. We do have PLENTY of snow in our area. The warm temp just settled it in.

Superior Snowmobile Club’s 4 groomers are all grooming on a daily basis as long as temp is at least, at the warmest 30 degrees. If we don’t update this report every day, the grooming date doesn’t get changed. This report is the same as our groomer operators – volunteer. We do try to update at least every 4 days but sometimes the days get away from us.
