WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan - Snow will transition to light lake effect snow showers today near Lake Superior and diminish to a few lake effect snow showers on Sunday. Martin Luther King Day will be mostly cloudy with some more light snow showers developing as the next system approaches from west-to-east during the afternoon. Additional accumulations through Saturday evening will be less than 3 inches, except for the higher elevations of Baraga and Marquette Counties. IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority - ORV & Snowmobile Club - Jerry our VP/Trail boss made the decision, which was a rather easy one, to not groom tonight. We've seen 1-2" and now mixed precipitation. Not good folks. Let's hope the gods of the inland sea we call Lake Superior wake up and cough up the goods soon. Until then, do the #heikkilunta and send them snowy vibes our way! #sendsnow #Please

IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority - ORV & Snowmobile Club - We have 1/2-1" of snow as of 6am Cst. Yesterday's forecast had snow starting at 9am. We had additional trail feedback that the base is very thin to gone Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield, very poor. If riding before we get several inches between Bessemer & Wakefield please go slow, trails are very icy as snirt base in areas refuses to stay put. It doesn't look like ‘the big one', but we should still get a few inches of wet snow. The best spots will be close to the WI/MI stateline and west of Marquette into the Michigamme Highlands. Grooming schedule remains very conservative (the more we groom, the more we alter the snow making it less prone to holding a pack) but we did groom 160 Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. With fresh snow we will likely groom all Friday night. Live trail report coming soon. Carful coming down the backside of the mountain on your way to trail 3 in WI. Trails are patchy with lots of areas of exposed dirt and grass. If you’re going to ride, hit the peak then turn around and come back down the Michigan side. Don’t continue the loop.

Unless there’s a huge turnaround, this winter could be the last straw for me. Sell all but one of my five machines and just fully switch everything to dirt toys. I have way too much time and money wrapped up into these flipping sleds to get 4 to 6 weeks a year out of them. I try not to get pissed about things that are out of my control but what a joke.
