Munising Area Trail Report – 02/25

TRAIL REPORT: 8:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25
Temp 27 degrees and dropping with 1′ snow forecast.

CAUTION – TRAIL 419 NOTICE:
For groomer safety reasons, Trail 419 grooming operations are on hold coming from Wetmore at Alger Heights Road through the hills to M-28 (approx. 1 1/2 miles of trail). Reasons are an icy narrowing of the trail over the temporary culvert, very icy conditions on the large hill approaching M-28 on the Munising side and no new snowfall to work with. Ride with care in this area, especially when approaching and crossing the temporary culvert.

* Trail 8, Trail 422 to Miner’s Castle and Trail 7 South to CR440 are in good condition.
* Trail 419 from Trail 8 North into Wetmore is fair to good.
From Wetmore it is good along M-28 to poor in the hills to good as you approach Munising. (SEE NOTICE ABOVE)
From Munising to Christmas it goes from fair to good after the first few miles.
*Trail 7 from Christmas South to Ridge Road is good to fair.
The remainder of Trail 7 South to the Trail 8 intersection is good.

Overall the main trails are in very good condition after grooming. The trails in the hills are overall fair to good with some poor corners.

Snow forecast over the next few days, lets keep hoping for a significant amount so we can clean-up the hills.

Enjoy your riding and be safe!

Traverse City Trail Report – Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals – 02/25

Well, we didn’t get any of the 3-5 inches expected. I would I could write a positive trail report but I honestly can not.

The trails in my opinion are fair at best but more on the poor side throughout. The groomers were out this week panning and did improve the conditions, however with no snow this week and nothing more forecasted I don’t think conditions will improve.

We have made the decisions to put our customers safety first. We have made the decision to cancel our Traverse City rentals this weekend. Though the trails are rideable, we feel our novice riders could run into safety issues.

We apologize for this inconvenience but fee it’s not in the best interest to our guests. If your looking to ride the seasonal roads are slick, 2 tracks still look pretty good and the overall trail base is still ok but hard packed. Keep our fingers crossed for more snow.

As always helmets and a trail map are included with your rental. We feature 600 Mxz and 600 Grand touring snowmobiles. Www.bluesky-tvc.com
