Lake Gogebic Area Trail Report – 01/26

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> 01/26

Bergland Area checking in for Saturday evening groom Sunday morning 1/25/25.. we received somewhere around 6" of new snow. Current temp is 8°. Trails covered lastnight, 13n, 13s, 102, 1n and access trails.

Snow was a little easier to cut into and work with tonight which hopefully helps getting some of these monster moguls and 3′ berms cut down. 1n to White Pine is a disaster!!

I think you all are dropping half sticks every 10′ to make us work harder! 😆 We’ll keep plugging along doing what we do.

Traffic is high. Best ride is early morning, then come back and support the local businesses in the afternoon and evening. Thanks everyone. Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Happy New Years Eve all! A quick update from the Marenisco section of GAG. Crews out working hard and all of the trails in our area are in good shape overall. There are still many low branches and whips, it’s getting better but a slow process. Here is the trail by trail update:
Trail 1-Groomed smooth heading south between Trail 2 and Presque Isle. A few branches and whips but getting better. Trail 1 between Marenisco and Trail 100 same condition. Trail 1 heading west and north from the 1/100 intersection is still closed due to logging.
Trail 2-Groomed and smooth through Marenisco to the groomer turnaround.
Trail 13-Rerouted from the 13/100 intersection to head north to Camp 6 road and then east/southeast to the Trail 13/2 intersection. Groomed and fairly smooth with a couple water hole/hazard section. Also a few sections with many low branch’s/whips so use caution. Trail 13 is closed heading southeast from the 13/100 intersection due to logging and has not been groomed or brushed.
Trail 100-Groomed and pretty smooth with a couple of minor rough sections and one minor water hole. Some low branches/whips but overall in good condition for this time of the year.
Hope everyone has a great end of 2025 and beginning of 2026! #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos

Groomers have the right of way on the trails, pull over and stop to let them safely pass!
We now have Groomer Tracker installed in our groomers.
We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allow. Unforeseen circumstances may prevent us from going out, like a major blizzard and being snowed in at our homes or equipment breakdowns. #westernup

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> The last Trail Report for 2025!
Last night Wyatt ran Trail 12 from the NCSC Clubhouse in Ontonagon to Trail 1 thru White Pine, Silver City and to the junction with Trail 11. He and Tractor Mac played lumberjack on Trail 11 all the way to the Junction of 102. Looks like that will continue to be a challenge this season.
Mike C did an up and back starting on Trail 12 out of Hamilton's North Coast Adventures to Trail 101 and then on to Trail 13 to the junction of Trail 137.
The water holes are starting to freeze up, but The LP Walsh Road section of Trail 12 still has running water in the swales. Our guys have built snow bridges, but many are one groom wide. Ride this section with caution, and STAY ON TRAIL.
Trail 1 along Lake Superior is still thin, but improving with each snowfall.
Other than that, most of our trails are in good to very good condition. Ride right and stay safe, Sledheads. #ontonagon #westernup #snowphotosThe last Trail Report for 2025!

WATERSMEET - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club >> UPDATED 12/30/25- Groomers were finally able to get out today and groom our entire system and clear all big obstacles that were on or blocking the trails. Both groomers were out 9 to 10 hours to get through everything but still expect some mirror wackers as it will take a while to get all them. We got anywhere from probably 12 to 20 inches of snow so it is going to take a few days before the trails are really going to set up. We will be on a more consistent grooming schedule moving forward as long as weather cooperates and groomer drivers are available. Big thanks to some of the snowmobilers that stopped and help us clear some of the big trees and if you see something on the trails please try to pick it up to help our drivers out. Remember Ride Right and Ride Safe. #watersmeet #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 01/26

1/26 Update: Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of grooming updates today. With yesterday’s warm up above freezing, we were unable to groom last night. Today the plan is to evaluate our system and determine if we can get at least some of our groomers rolling again today and tomorrow. Our equipment is ready to roll and our volunteer crew of operators are ready to go. For those out riding today, please share your feedback on conditions with pictures and locations if possible.

As posted last night, our open house was very successful! We appreciate everyone who was able to attend and to those that became members, thank you for contributing to our club. We hope to regularly see new members at our future events and meetings, as we are always looking for new faces and ideas. We especially appreciate all the work by our members and board throughout the day. There are so many dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes that made this event a great success! Also thanks to those who donated or provided food items and door prizes for our event. Paul H Jernberg, Chase Creek Smoke House, Fox Powersports Peacock, Hutson, Inc., Ebels General Store

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 12/31 Update: The rail trail from Baldwin to Reed City was groomed last night along with sections north and west of Baldwin (3, 30, 35, 340). The middle section South of Baldwin to Woodland Park area was also groomed (3,320, 324). Most areas turned out pretty well with some wet spots and thinner snow towards Reed City. Please ride right and ride safe. Enjoy the last day of 2025 and have a happy, safe, New Year’s celebration!
We will be meeting at the clubhouse at 9am tomorrow (Jan. 1st) and heading out to open trail 19 to Hart. We could use all the help we can get. We are planning on trailering sleds out to near Candy Cane Lane along trail 19 and working from there. Reach out if you can help. #baldwinarea #snowphotos

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 12/30 Update: the middle trails, 3, 320, and 324 south of Baldwin to woodland park were groomed last night and will be again tonight. The north and rail are being groomed tonight by Dan and Chester with the 6195r (Hart tractor) to give it a shakedown due to all the track issues, before we send it over there on January 1st. Newaygo had a small section groomed today, but there were some trees too big for us to handle alone that were blocking the trail near the Newaygo Sports park. Think snow!❄️ #baldwinarea #snowpotos ... See MoreSee Less
