Newberry Trail Report – 01/17

TASA UPDATE – Jan. 17 2019

We have only received a couple of inches of new snow this week. We are still dealing with early season grooming conditions. Tonight we will be grooming to the falls, Holland Staging area and Epoufette. We are planning on a busy weekend on the trails and the temperatures are going to be below zero in our area. Please understand that are trail system is long and with the current snow conditions and heavy traffic of sleds our trails will not be in good shape by the end of the day.

Trail #9 (Holland Staging Area) Good condition.

Trail #45 (Falls) Good condition. This trail is groomed to County Road 500. Please be careful between M-123 and Skyline Road the road was graded this past fall and it has a crown in the middle that is causing problems for the groomer drivers until we get more snow. There is drop off on each side of the road.

Trail #2/9 (Epoufette/Trout Lake) Good condition. Trail #2 will be plowed west of Hurd Road for a logging operation. Hurd Road is near the Rexton Store. Please watch for logging trucks.

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/17

It’s a bright, white, hard, icy & cold morning here in Frederic at 9 degrees and ten a.m. No new snow overnight but there is some predicted for tonight. My thoughts on the coming weekend are about the same as last weekend. People are tired of waiting, its a long MLK weekend and we have a very hard icy base. Suspension lube is an issue so you will have to work for it but if we really get a little the next couple nights that will really help.

The cold is supposed to continue thruout the weekend so we will keep what we do have. It is very icy in front of Sledheads, I was just out spreading salt out there and have my truck sideways across the front to make sure nobody comes flying thru and slides, walk carefully if you are coming in. I am doing my best with the salt out there. Snow chanting is most welcome and because we haven’t had the joy of a real snowfall yet this season

I will once again post a link to my Big Chief Indian Pete video here Frederican Snow Chant I find it hard to believe that video is now ten years old…..PIcs below I took outside this morning. Thanks for checking in. Pete
