LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 12/06
Your Friday December 6th evening update from the Bergland area.. We had a machine go up 102 this morning to reset and fill waterholes. It’s not perfect but getting better and we’re pretty confident we can start pulling a drag up that trail. Trail 8e to Ewen had it’s first groom of the season and turned out really nice but thin. 13n to Rockland had it’s first groom tonight but we haven’t heard any report on conditions yet.
Heard chatter on the radio saying it also turned out good.
Tomorrow we are planning a crew of people giving 13s on the East side of lake Gogebic some much needed attention. Use caution if riding 13s, we will be there in 2 different groups with Bully’s, sleds and people during daylight hours. Most likely we will stay off the trails Sunday with this brief warmup forecast to protect what we’ve already established. Good evening everyone, busy day tomorrow.❄️❄️❄️

Shown below is the expected 24-hour snowfall accumulation from 7pm today through 7pm Friday, along with the 24-hour snowfall from 7am Saturday through 7am Sunday. The 12-hour "gap" in between those two periods is the lull between the two waves of snow, when not much is expected to happen. And the snowmelt from the warm spell today should largely have ceased by then. More snow is also expected after 7am on Sunday and even into Monday, but it's a bit too early to call the snow amounts for that time period. So we can protect our base, we will not be grooming Wednesday and Thursday during the warm up. ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> Mother Nature is not playing fair. High temps and some rain yesterday afternoon in White Pine.
The trails were in good condition before the warmth came in. With light traffic and a short duration we hope they hold up.
Still busy! Installed a temp culvert in the water hole pictured (before pic) just passed The Woodspur Road on Trail #12. THANK YOU WYATT!!!
Prepping Pisten Bully 19 for some necessary maintenance.
Keep your fingers crossed for colder weather and more snow!!

Riders who know the Ontonagon area remember the pain of the west-side reroute the last couple years… but the original Trail 12 heading west out of Ontonagon is open and riding better than ever! Flat, smooth, and fast. Of course, when I went out yesterday, I couldn’t help but do a little Boondocking down the forest roads, but that’s a post for another time 😉
If you’re riding the western UP, Scott’s Superior Inn & Cabins sits right on Trail 12 — easy access, warm rooms, and a complimentary hot breakfast to fuel the next ride. 🛷❄️
