Sledheads of Frederic – 01/09

It’s almost noon and light snow and 23 out here in Frederic, we had another couple inches of fluffy lake effect overnight. Sled traffic was steady yesterday for a sunday and I haven’t seen or heard one sled yet today. I went for a ride yesterday afternoon up to Starvation Lake and looped around down to grayling and home for a bit before riding back to Frederic. Trails were very good and The Hideaway was packed as usual. On the way back I came up on both Grayling Groomers on trail 7 making it flat as a pancake. That was really nice and its especially nice when they run 2 at the same time

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 01/09

After 18 below Sunday morning this mornings temp is around 15 above and about 2 inches of fresh snow that is suppose to end mid morning.

The last few days of zero or below mornings have really helped to set up the water.

We will be taking groomer thru the Spile dam(#480) trail all the way to Raco for only the second time this season. That only leaves about 3 miles north of Gaines highway on trail #49 to put groomer on.

Other then these two short sections, which sleds can get around, trails are in very good shape.

Step off the trail in Raco and you are waist deep in snow.
