Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 02/23

February 23, 2017

Afternoon Update – Hey folks, Groomer Chris here. I needed to get back on here this afternoon to amend my morning post cause I just found out new info and I ALWAYS try to post the truth. Groomer Don did run the Point trails yesterday and they turned out good….sorry…I didn`t know he went out yesterday. Now on to the main reason…..

Groomer Mike got a phone call yesterday afternoon about a tracked 4 wheel drive vehicle out on the Pine Stump trail that was buried on the trail. WTH!!!!! He grabbed Groomer Gerald and went out to the rescue. By the time they got out there (approx. 5 hrs.) the vehicle was gone. This MORON really tore up the trail with his vehicle!!! He left 1 foot ruts through-out the entire trail and totally destroyed it!!!! Well, 11 hrs later they got it whipped back into shape but this was totally stupid!!!! If these ruts would have gotten frozen in we would have been screwed for the rest of this season!!! I hope this guy reads this report and realizes how much money and time he cost us….MORON!!!!! Thats all I got to say about that.

33 degrees this morning and partly cloudy. It rained most of the night last night and we did lose some more snow. We still have a solid foot and a half of snow on the ground though. It still looks like Ole Man Winter will return starting tomorrow. ‘They’ are still saying 3-6 inches through Sunday and continue through next week. Highs around freezing and lows in the 20`s. Remember, I`m not a weatherman, so don`t hold me to nuttin!

The groomers all stayed parked yesterday so nothing went on. I know the trails are all in pretty good shape despite this weather. There has been hardly any sled traffic on them. I also know the south trail #8 is pretty hit. You can drive along M-123 and see the power line is not good. I imagine the swamp is worse. Me thinks we are done with this trail for the year unless a miracle happens.

Soooo….if you are thinking about coming UP this weekend, I say go for it, just don`t expect perfect. We will be running the groomers as long as the weather allows. Groomer Chris

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/22

Foggy and 45 this morning in Frederic, snow continues to try to totally disappear.

Up to 53 yesterday and stil another couple warm days to come then finally back to below 32.

The Winter Festival that was scheduled for Gaylord this coming weekend has been canceled. I don’t believe there is any hope of rideable snow for this coming weekend but maybe a slim chance for the following weekend.

If it happens at all we will be starting over from scratch. With the ground warmed up everything that falls at first will want to melt.

I posted a picture yesterday of a set of keys that were found on the trail north of town here and that got passed around a lot and I am happy to say that the owner of the keys called me last night and wouldn’t you know it, another Indiana person from Fort Wayne. That of course instantly made me think of the coney island in Fort Wayne. Regardless I am glad that Trent can get his keys back. Pictures below are from this morning and are just plain depressing except for the deer pics I took at my camp and a picture I am throwing in that my daughter took down at the lake a couple weeks ago. The only other good thing about this warm out is that the death count this season is only at 4 when it was at 20 at this same time last year. Thanks for checking in.
