NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> 01/30
37⁰ and some sun made that snow stick wherever you folks threw it today!
Bet is was pretty noticeable by days end huh?
And why we worked hard yesterday packing our new snow in, we want to keep it right where it is!
24⁰ Now, Our leader Chad is sending all three out tonight, see if we can fix any little bumps that may have occurred during the process of the day 🤣

CURTIS AREA UPDATE via Curtis Area Trail Association >> With the highly anticipated snow, it’s been a very hectic week and finally able to catch up on some trail updates.
Our Newberry trail from Curtis /Helmer/ McMillan up to the Newberry trail 9 intersection is being groomed nightly.
Great snow cover and continue building up the base, corners are flat and trails are smooth.
Germfask trail 43 west of Curtis was groomed last night. Groomer reported trail groomed up exceptionally well. A crew was going back out today to do some additional brushing and stumps removal, west of Wolf Rd .
Naubinway trail loop was completely groomed from Curtis, thru Naubinway and then north to Trail 9 intersection. Furlong swamp finally froze up this year and allowing groomers thru and accessing Naubinway pipeline from the West. Again, deep snow and groomed up nicely.
Also wanted to give a HUGE THANKS and recognition to Charlie Vallier (Snowmobile Museum) and John Kurkowski (Hiawatha Sportsman club) for the trail side assistance last night!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> 01/29
Bringing her home from Pine Stump this morning, at least 10″ has fallen in the area overnight, I shoveled 9″ yesterday, had to do it again this morning!
Let’s go see what we’ve got.
We’ve got SNOW. LOTS!
12:20
If you park at the Holland Lake Park and ride most of the time I see you use road to hook up to the trail because that strip that runs along 407 is rough, that’s no longer the case, best in three years now, snow makes a world of difference!
Debris on the track!

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> Paradise to Seney today was excellent- We took “alternate” routes and boondocks to and from Pine Stump but I’m sure the paradise trails were fair despite the fact they are not being maintained at the present time. Massive drifts coming back and white out conditions made for a blast. Chics Hot Dog Stand 8 and 452 Paradiseprovided the Hot chocolate on the way out. Ended the evening at Wheelhouse Diner & Goat Locker Saloon back in Paradise. TASA, Grand Marias, and Seney operations have their trails dialed in beautifully- Andy’s Bar in Seney has the burger!! All areas received several inches of fresh snow today and it’s still coming down hard at 11pm. #paradise #newberry #snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Here is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025. Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. Not too impactful of a system in terms of Michigander standards, but do take it slow if you encounter any snow squalls and/or visibly slick roads. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyHere is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> Paradise - Grand Marais-Pine Stump- lots of boondocking and two tracks.. Trails are brutally “hard” after the refreeze. Some sections got a few inches of fresh snow today which made for good but most were very “chattery” with engine temps constantly elevating. PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 12/19/25 15 degrees this morning and snowing. We got just a light dusting last night. Yesterday was a night mare. I hit 43 degrees here and got about a 1/4 inch of rain. We lost quite a bit of snow. Looking out my window I would say I have just less than a foot left. We were off to a good start! The big thing I think people don`t realize is that the snow melt has to go somewhere. Our trail system has a lot of low country and guess where the water goes....right.....back into the swamps! This water then gets warmed a bit because of the rotting vegetation and there you have it.....more darn water holes on the trails!!!! This is the main reason we can`t get going as early as some of the other surrounding clubs do. As far as our plans go.....It looks like the weather is gonna cool back down to normal for the next few days. We are gonna let things freeze back up and then Sunday we are gonna send 2 machines w/o drags down the Falls trail #45 and see what we got. Trails #452 & #453 around the Point are ridable but thin in areas, they are not groomed yet, just packed. Trail #8 to da Stump is groomed but it is thin in spots too. Trail #8 south is just packed and the gates into the Federal Forest section are closed because of water. Thats about it for now. This thaw really hurt our plans. Our trails took a BEATING today with the warm up, we have a full team headed out to hit everything and get it flattened back out for everyone. Please keep in mind we are seeing 100s of sleds on our grooming runs in the middle of the night – this gives very little time for things to set up. Give the guys a wave if you see them out!

Trail 137 was was and flat with maybe 2 little ripples. Trail 3 back north is getting ugly quick. There’s a lot of traffic for a Thursday.
