Grand Marais Trail Report – Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 12/15

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 443 trail south from Grand Marais and 88 towards M77: I was surprised how well the snow held up from the warm temperatures yesterday. Trail is 90 percent covered in snow, other than the wet area on 88, which we are still not grooming that 5 mile stretch. Left the trail a little bumpy to keep the snow on top. Lots of traffic! Ride safe! – Tom

Ran west Friday evening, 8, 89 88 and 88/43. Some dirt showing just north of 88/43 on 88 but other than that trail in excellent condition. Groomer Will

East on 88 has some issues Pull up hill has been sanded by loggers and about 25 miles from town there are serious bald spots. Recommend H58 west toward Munising. Best conditions I’ve seen this week. Groomer Dan

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 12/14

Expect early season riding. Some trails will be poor to fair to good but do expect to encounter some water, dirt and ice. Our weather for this weekend is not looking good for riding. Temps for the weekend will be sunny; today we will have a high of 39 with a low of 21. Saturday they are calling for a high of 44 with a low of 28, and Sunday temps will be a high of 35 with a low of19.

Groomers will try and get out at night weather permitting. If you plan to come up and ride it is best to do so early morning before the trails get soft.

The GRTA and the Lake Gogebic Area Grooming have been out rolling but with our warmer weather it looks like weather permitting.

The UP Thunder Riders have not been out at all this year, more snow is needed.

Thank you for your patients we will keep you updated.

Remember to stay on marked trails riding on unmarked trails can result in losing easement for the trails and a possible ticket for you so PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS.
