I wish I had better news but the trails are looking pretty sad. Until we get colder temps and more snow trails will be poor.
Temps are supposed to get back to normal by the end of this week with some snow.

Gogebic Range Trail Authority Report

Overall conditions are poor. With a week of temps above freezing, along with rain on Friday and Saturday says it all. Trails have not been groomed in a week due to temperatures.
The good news is that snow is in the forecast, but the trails will require a lot of rework to get them back in shape. We will keep you posted.

Lake Gogebic Area Groomers Report

At this time we are asking to please stay off trails – for now. Keeping off trails could help preserve what we have until we get back to normal winter temps and more snow. This will be a day to day watch for any snowmobiling over this coming weekend. We will keep you updated as to our conditions.

U.P. Thunder Riders of Watersmeet Trail Report

Conditions are fair/poor and very icy. Groomers will not go back out until weather permitting.

Trail 3 North is fair

Trail 3 South to WI is fair/poor

Trail 2 is fair/poor

Trail 13 South is fair/poor.

January 23rd, 2017

Please stay off the trails – for now. Keeping traffic off the trails right now actually could help preserve what we have until it starts cooling off and we get more snow and can get back to normal-ish. This mid January warm up has lasted longer than I’ve ever seen and it’s taken its toll on everything! The weather will continue to NOT be our friend, at least until Wednesday night when temps are supposed to start cooling down to more normal levels with snow in the forecast for what looks to be almost every day for a week or so from then. No big storms predicted, as of yet, just a few inches here and there each day, and we will have to deal with the wet issues all over again (thanks mother nature). This will be a day to day watch for any snowmobiling over this upcoming weekend so I’ll try to keep more reports coming as we get closer to Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed.

As previously posted, please stay on the trails in Bergland. You are not allowed to ride the highway through town and may be ticketed. You can only access the gas station by following the trail through the park and crossing directly across from the gas station from Antonio’s Restaurant. If riding the roads through Merriweather (down to the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern or to the lake) please remember to ride at the posted speed limit of 25 mph and stay to the side and as always be aware that this is a residential area and watch for traffic.

All map money is intended to benefit the grooming efforts in our area. If you mail your sponsorship or donation to the above address be sure to include contact info, as well.
