Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/25

All groomers are running daily and trails are in as close to "excellent" shape as we will report – we don’t like to say "excellent" because that’s a subjective term, but they are certainly "Very Good".

This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Trails are in good to very good condition. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!! Please watch out for deer on the trails too.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Tuesday Morning Trail and Snow Report…
by Heart Lake Resort on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 9:02am

Tuesday Morning at around 9 am here at Heart Lake Resort Cottages between Gaylord and Grayling. 24.6 degrees out and snowing at the current time. Yesterday was extremely warm with almost 43 degrees here. Winter seems to be back now but we definitely need a fair amount of snow before I can report the riding to be good again. The trails went from pretty good over this past weekend to mostly dirt yesterday because of the one day of very warm temps and rain. Still plenty of snow on the ground and in the back country though but the trail system took a huge hit – no riding on them today. Low temps are now forecasted all week with some new snow in the forecast. NOAA.gov is a good site to look at. If you ever need anything, more information or even a place to stay, please feel free to give us a call – 989-732-5081. And, please feel free to forward this report around and share us with others if you do Facebook. Thanks. John www.HeartLakeResort.com ps. We’re booking now if you’re interested for spring golf groups, mushroom hunting, Bass fishing and summer vacations for family fun.
