Cadillac Area Trail Report – 12/10

Just got a snow conditions report from some sledders who have been riding north of M55 today. They report finding anywhere from 6-12 inches on the trail. The snow remains very fluffy and isn’t packing as temperatures have been pretty cold resulting in lots of blowing and drifting snow.

There seems to be an ice base under the snow so be extra careful especially on the corners. Conditions vary throughout the system with 6-7 inches on the eastern portion of the system and up to 12 inches on the central and northern portions of the network.

DECEMBER 9

Winter has arrived. By 5 p.m. tonight we had received 5 inches of snow in the Cadillac West area.

I checked the White Pine Trail at about 4:30 p.m. and it had 2 inches of snow cover on the north end at the staging area. More snow forecasted this evening and throughout the day tomorrow. Today’s snow is light and fluffy and not ideal for making a base . We’ve had lots of wind to move the snow around. We’ll keep you posted as conditions change.

Remember the State Park folks have asked we not ride on the White Pine Trail until there is at least 4 inches of snow on it.
