CADILLAC AREA UPDATE via Coyote Crossing Resort >> 01/17
New Snow Last 24 hrs: 4-5″
Trails range from fair-good!
Thin stretch between Boon and Mesick but lots of real good stretches on the trail.
Railroad grade to Thompsonville is fair. Gets better the further north you get.
Expecting busy traffic since it’s “free riding” weekend and MLK. We’ll have a bonfire going in the Coyote Corral on Saturday with drinks for sale outside!
Compared to last year, trails are a 10- haha! This trail report is from Lewis Finch who was out riding today! – THINK SNOW!
Hello- Got 3-4” in last day with some rain/snow mix and then fresh snow on top … there likely will be some spot grooming done, but don’t want to disturb the base too much yet … When dirt gets mixed in with the snow, we lose the rigidity of the ice base. Several people were riding this past weekend, but decent conditions were very localized from Coyote up to Mesick. Check out Coyote webcam for current pictures. Cold temps and some snow are in the forecast… THINK SNOW! Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Precip will gradually taper through the evening. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Additional icing across the area appears less likely today with only a glaze of ice possible for some areas. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A cold night is on tap as temps fall into the teens and perhaps single digits across much of northern Michigan, especially in areas heavily impacted by the recent ice storm. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency? Are there any numbers showing ice accumulation for Antrim as compared to surrounding areas?
